Great I am home alone, with the radio blasting, doing the domestic godess stuff and no one is around on the board to keep me checking in? Where did you all go? Are you at my office doing my work?

Karen the downs of living small town, USA I guess. Have you looked up Jazzercise because we have several around here in our town that are run privately at local VFW and Knights of Columbus Halls. I completely understand your fustrations. I also get intimidated around large crowds, especially at a fufu place like you described. I was intimidated at our local gym at first but after a few weeks I got to know faces and a simple nod of the head made me feel better. Never anyone going out of their way to say hello other then the staff at the front desk. Joining with a buddy is really a help. We also have a Curves and I did that for a while and had lots of fun. Actually I found that place more friendly and helpful. Listen if you are not doing anything then take a ride down to the Curves and talk to the person who is running it. Watch the woman do their thing. I think you can get out lots of stuff as long as you are willing to work hard. Curves in only for women, which helps with lots of that intimidaation feelings and most are mid 30's and up. More our crowd! Unless the program has changed its a circle of machines with resting platforms inbetween. Loud music that you work out with, with every few minutes a beep, click, something telling you to move to the next station. Inbetween each station is the resting platform but I met one lady there (she became my Avon rep and still is) that used to remind me of the lady from Flash Dance. Remember the scence when the woman is dancing and pounding her feet on the ground? Well Lisa would go like a woman on a mission inbetween her machine work outs and she worked up a fierce sweat in 30 minutes. She now supervises there. Don't give up, something will turn up. How about posting a sign at your local YMCA looking for a walking buddy? Our local moll opens an hour earlier then the stores to allow people to walk around inside without the shoppers. Total once around that place is a mile. I would be afraid the window shopper in me would go crazy but its another thought. Like everyone else says around here, I wish we lived closer. We all have such busy schedules yet we want to do something and we want to help each other out, more ways then one. But do hang in there and do yourself a favor run over to the Curves later this afternoon or tomorrow, you have nothing to loose, right? Another plus with Curves for me was the direct withdrawel each month from my checking account. It was a month to month membership. Let me know what you decide to do...hugs!
