How cool about the Coast Guard! That's fairly uncommon. I think Rob will have 38 weeks of school in Elizabeth City, NC, after boot camp and 4 months stationed wherever while he gets to scrub latrines and things like that. ;-) The recruiter is encouraging him to go to San Diego or Alaska, so he can travel on the CG's dime, but he'd like to be closer to home somewhere like Savannah, GA,

Hi Lisa and welcome to the board. I love to cook and really enjoy the search for new recipes that are good for you and loved the recipes that you posted.

I've also been doing the steel cut oats in the crockpot although the past few weeks I've been lax getting them into the crock pot in the evening so I've been doing the rolled oats on top of the stove.

I try to do the mini meals throughout the day as well. It sometimes gets difficult when the office gets busy or I get busy during the weekend but it really does help keeping cravings at bay and keeping the blood sugar at a normal level.

Look forward to your posts and again hello and welcome to the board.

OK, someone tell me what the difference is between steel cut, rolled oats and just plain on quaker oats from the grocery store?

Remember I'm the one close to a tiny town who lives way out in the country.

Steel cut oats are whole grain groats, the inner portion of the oat kernel.
