Can we start a Thurs. check in?
| Thu, 03-06-2008 - 5:43pm |
Well since it has taken me basically last night and most of today inbetween stuff to catch up since being away I thought maybe it would be better to just start off our check in and then I can catch everyone up on my comings and goings! So what is up with everyone today? How did your day go? How is everyone's weather.......hot, cold, warm, sun or rain? Please share and I will too!
Debbie

Where to begin with me..........had a wonderful time in Florida. Had 4 relaxing days with my girlfriends. We ate healthy most of the time, had a few goodies, took two walks and only drank a little wine and one margarita! I started a bit of a cold Sunday with a sore throat that got really bad on the plane ride home. My ears were really hurting and my throat was buring but once off the plane it settled down. Came home to a really clean house and all the laundry caught up. Between Katie and DH they did an awsome job. Went to work on Tuesday and Wednesday dragging a bit and thought about calling in sick today but due to some events I ended up off anyhow. So last night at 1:30 am we get a phone call from our alarm company. Bill and Billy throw their clothes on and head up to the shop. Bill calls me within 5 minutes to tell me they are going to be there for a long time.............someone broke a window in the front garage door, climbed in, moved the inspection equiptment out of the way, loaded a floor jack into the back of the 2006 Range Rover and pulled out backwards through our glass garage doors and sped away. Once the criminals stood up they set off the motion sensors causing the alarm company to call our house and the police. Within 5 minutes, Bill was there and so were the police looking at the mess. This car/truck has been at our shop for about 2 weeks now having lots of custom stuff done including new wheels and tires that were special ordered from Europe, specifically for a Range Rover. The truck was worth over $80 thousand! The people who broke in and stole the car took off and jumped on the parkway and got away. We later were advised that the truck was found some 20 miles away on the north shore of LI (we live on the south shore) missing all the wheels and tires. The wheels were only 5 days old and cost our customer about $6,000.00. By the time the police finished filing their report and we waited for crime scene to get there it was over 3 hours. They dusted for prints but got nothing. I ran up there but only stayed for 20 minutes because Katie was home asleep. I just laid in bed for the night but could not sleep. Billy & Robbie were there with Bill until 5:00 when Bill sent them home to get some rest. Billy went back up around 8:30 and Rob headed off to school. I decided once I dropped Katie off at school I needed to be close to home. Glad I was, I did a couple of coffee runs, took care of my personal phone calls I have been forgetting to do, cleaned up the house a little, did some laundry and ran to the bank. Right now I have a meat loaf cooking while Katie finishes up her home work. Both boys are now home and we are just waiting for Bill to get in which I hope is soon. The man must be exhausted. The garage door guys cut out the rest of the glass door this morning and had to order a new one. Unfortunatly it won't be here until tomarrow so they used plywood to board up the place and will place a truck in front.

LI-Deb, I'm happy to hear you had a fun trip and got back safely and that your Mom is doing well, but so sorry to read about the break-in. I know that had to be traumatic. I felt violated just when someone filled a prescription of mine illegally many years ago, so can't imagine how that must have been. I would have had a hard time sleeping too.
We had another beautiful spring-like day here, but it has clouded up this evening. I thought for sure we'd get a shower, but nothing so far. It hit me hard last night and especially this morning that Rob will be leaving in less than 3 weeks. I felt pretty blue until I decided I would use today to spend time with him while I can. First, I went outside and cut down about half of a crape myrtle tree that had died mysteriously, but left the biggest part of it for Rob. I woke him up and finally got him out of the house after 2 this afternoon. We had lunch at a locally owned chain restaurant called The Loop and chatted about his feelings about boot camp, friends, and things like that. It was quality time, which I've missed lately.
We rode to the nursing home and spent some time with Dad and my sister, but Dad was in bed and looked as though he almost didn't recongize me!! He'd been asleep and wasn't expecting me. My sister and I tracked down the speech therapist and nutrionist and reiterated our concerns about Dad's condition to them and our thoughts that lack of proper nutrition and hydration are contributing to his decline. He'll be re-evaluated and may be put on some tube feedings again to bolster his nutrition and hydration. Mom was feeling poorly this morning too. She's had a cough for a few days and we're concerned that it's related to heart failure rather than a cold or allergy. I'm trying to get her to see a new cardiologist, since she isn't happy with the one she's been going to for years.
We didn't stay terribly long at the nursing home, because Dad fell back asleep quickly. Rob and I made a run to the grocery store and got the groceries put away, then went outside to finish taking down the tree. He did that for me and put the ladder against the other side of the house to cut back some of the mineola tangelo limbs thta were touching the roof. I was going to do it, but he didn't like the idea of me up the ladder. :-) I had to cut back some thick bouganvillea vines with really wicked thorns on them.
We may go in and pressure wash Mom and Dad's house, driveway, porch, and patio tomorrow if Rob can borrow a pressure washer. Mom and Dad's stopped working for some reason.
Tim is giving a presentation in front of a business class at the University of North Florida tonight. Talk about loving to talk in front of large groups... Get him started about business and he can go for hours with ease. He couldn't sleep last night and went into the office from like 1-something to 4-something in the morning, so of course, he went in late today and was tired to boot. He said he was able to get a lot accomplished though. I know sometimes when I have a lot on my mind, I might as well get up and do something productive, because sleep just isn't going to come.
Thankfuls:
1. A really good day of quality time with Rob
2. Got some chores done around the yard
3. We visited Dad and my sister (and that she's here from MD)
4. We've been able to get
