Hopeful and cautiously optomistic after a phone call DH received this afternoon. The general manager of a dealership called him and asked if he might be interested in joining the dealership. He's apparently looking to expand the dealership bring in regular work plus fleet and truck work as well as expanding his wholesale business. It turns out that it's a union shop which means no change in benefits, it might be a bit of a difference in salary as they may have to bring him in on a different pay scale and of course he would have to start back at the bottom of the ladder as far as vacation time but that would be true wherever he goes. They have a slightly different contract which isn't up until September which would be a little breathing room for that and the fact that he's looking to expand on his business would indicate that he's not interested in having his workers on strike. I'm going to fine tune and print out his resume and he's going to give the guy a call tomorrow to set up a time to meet with him.
I think Dh has realized that since he's so close to collecting his pension that maybe finishing off in the industry might be the best way to go. We won't have to worry about a lapse in our health benefits and perhaps in 2 years time he would be able to collect on his pension and find a part time job that he would really enjoy...or maybe he could be my cabana boy :)!
I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers...this is one powerful group of women and we're both hoping that this will work out.
