As I've said our office is relocating. The supposed date is 3/28. No word from either head honcho on what exactly they expected from the staff as to moving in but then the memo. Meanwhile the space isn't finished, hasn't been signed off by the village where it's situated so are we moving that date we don't know. But according to the memo this morning we're all expected to be working Saturday 3/29 which would normally not be a problem except that that is the date of DD's engagement party. As soon as I got the memo I went in and explained that it was DD's party and I got..."well I don't know what to tell you. I know you don't need any more problems right now but you all knew that you were given extra days off in anticipation of this move and that you would be expected to work." He said I don't expect you to miss your DD's party but let me know that they had indicated that we would be expected to be available. How are you supposed to plan something like this around a "supposed date". He wanted to know what time the party was, and then proceeded to tell me well I guess you're telling me you're not available. When they booked this party the office move was planned anywhere from February to April. I guess I was supposed to clear the date with the office. We'll just they really don't pay me enough for this kind of aggravation and I guess we were supposed to either not make weekend plans or make them contingent on when and if we move. There's obviously nothing he can do about it but he obviously wasn't happy. He wants to make sure the office if up and running. What exactly am I supposed to do if my computer and phone don't work? As far as I know I'm not qualified for either. I offered to come in on Sunday which still may have to happen if this move doesn't happen when they expect. Got a shovel?....I have men. 15 years...sometimes I wonder.

And yet again another man who expects you to be available at his beck and call and to read his mind - and the collective mind of a community.
