Hi. I am 42. I just lost 10 pounds and I would like to start getting fit. Want to tone up, especially arm area. I just finished watching the Biggest Loser and can't believe ali is the same height as me and now weighs 122. I haven't weighed 122 since like 10th grade. I currently weight 151 and went down one pant size. I am feeling good but would like to lose another 10 to 15 pounds and get in shape. My arms are jiggly and my thighs are lumpy. any advice for a beginning workout? I haven't been really active since I played sports in HS.

thanks

Welcome Orby. Congrats on losing those 10 lbs. It's good to exercise your whole body, but you can do a number of things to tighten your arms with dumbbells, a weighted pole, or even punching. Tell us more about yourself.

I lost the 10 lb by low carb which you can lose and do very little exercise. I was once a walker but have had a hard time motivating myself but the weather is getting nice here (in PA) and I am getting more motivated. I would like to start lifting but don't know how to really do that. I do have a resistance band, I need to look up exercises for that. I want to lose more weight but don't want to stick with low carb forever. I am thinking of weight watchers. I want to know why I become so fixated on the numbers on the scale. I feel much better just losing 10 but get sucked into the notion that I should weigh a certain weight. Like I would love to weigh 135 and I think that will be my goal but last time I got to 135, I wanted to go 125. I am 5 ' 5" and have 3 kids.

Thanks for your replies.

Hi and welcome to the board! Find something you love to do and I agree with the others that weights are also important to incorporate! A resistance band can also be very effective. I love walking too and the winter weather can take its toll when you enjoy being outside.

Hope that you'll stick around so that we can get to know you better.
