I booked my flights tonight, but am holding off on the hotel until we post about it some and get everyone's feelings about location, rates, etc. We're talking about staying from Friday, October 3rd to Sunday or Monday, the 5th or

Nancy I am not sure if we can just reserve or if we have to book it up front and pay for it upfront. If so I do not think I have enough room on my credit card to book two rooms. If they only need a card to hold the rooms and pay for them when we check in that I have no problem with that. That is why I asked about holding a block of 5 or 6 rooms together, like a wedding does. I can spend more time on this either tonight when I get home from work or Friday when I am off.

Just talked to Sheryl at Hilton (Doubletree) reservations customer service and she said they don't charge your credit card when you make the reservation. They take the number, but you're charged when you check in, unless it's a special rate, and then it will specify that. That's if you make the reservation through them. I think Travelocity and Expedia and other cos. like that charge up front.

We need to know who else is planning to come, so we can block the rooms. I think 5 would be plenty. We've had 8 people the last 2 trips, but if we're lucky we'll have a couple more this time. Better to have too many and be able to drop them than to have too few.

What do the rest of you think?

Rhonda did you block out rooms or should we just call and make reservations and try to get near each other with just a request? How did you do it last time? I will call and make a reservation on Friday when I am off but will probley just place them on hold. Just in case................Grace is this alright with you? Nancy, Margie, Donna, Kathy and anyone else flying in remember Grace and I are driving my Explorer and I can fit 5 people comfortably with luggage. Now if Susan decides to join us (which I am hoping she does) then I have room in my car for 2 additional people. It is about a 5 to 6 hour ride from New York (Long Island) to DC so your flights would have to arrive in the afternoon. I am figuring if we leave NY around 9 in the morning we should miss most of the morning LI traffic and put us into DC sometime around 3 which would put us in Baltimore around 2ish for those considering flying into BWI. I think the Ronald Regan Airport is close to the hotel if memory serves me correct and they did have a shuttle. I am getting excited.............

I'm still on the fence whether I can swing this or not. Even though DH has switched jobs it's still a contract year which comes up in September and of course a strike is always a possibility and of course with a pay cut I'm feeling a bit of guilt about expending any extra money but...obviously I would still like to come.

With that in mind...if I can come up with the money is there anyone else that needs a roommate?

I didn't make any reservations yet, because I didn't know if people wanted their credit cards charged now to get the cheaper rate or would rather have the cards charged at check-in and pay $17. more per day. Once we determine that, we can go from there.
