1. It’s a name game … well, not really. As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day, share the first name of your Mother and your Grandmother(s). Also, we’d love for you would share a memory about your Mother or your Grandmother. My mom's name was Louise, my MIL Lucy, my Mom's mom-was Ruth and my Dad's mom Ethel.
My mom was a great with a sewing machine. She used to make all my dresses and made matching dresses for my sister and I for a fashion show. She taught me to sew. Unfortunately I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my grandmothers since we lived in NY and they were both in CT. I did spend more time with my Grandmother Ruth since that where we stayed when we went to visit. She was a great cook and made the best lemon meringue pie and always had a plate of molasses cookies on hand. She used to collect teacups and I'm fortunate enough to have several of them. I do remember the Thanksgiving she came down from CT and we had a flood in the basement and in effort to get dinner on the table she accidently used the eggnog instead of milk in the mashed potatoes! Made for an interesting side dish. My MIL was just a wonderful woman. She was always there to lend a helping hand. I was truly blessed with a wonderful MIL and very glad that she was part of my life and I'm so very glad that my kids will always carry such wonderful memories of a very special lady.
