My sister had a marble collection as did DH. He used to count the marbles with his grandmother. He had them in a can for years and I finally asked him if I could put them in a big glass jar. I thought they would love pretty in the jar-which they do since they are the old glass marbles-and would bring back fond memories of his grandmother.
DD is home this weekend since her BF is in the Dominican Republic at a bachelor party (don't ask how that conversation went!) so we're going to enjoy a day together. She has a nail appointment and when she's done we're going out wedding gown shopping. My sister may join us since it's a place that a friend of hers had found and it's not to far from where she lives. She is waiting on somebody for an estimate but if my BIL was going to be around she'll probably meet us there. We may also do lunch and somewhere during the weekend she's taking me Mother's Day gift shopping and we're also planning a trip to our favorite small grocery store for some yummy things to eat for tomorrow.
It started out as a gray looking day but it looks like the skies are turning blue and the sun is shining. It will be nice after the miserable weather of yesterday.
Headed to the basement this morning for a workout. There's just some mornings that I can really get a pace going on the treadmill and this morning was one of them. I did my best distance for the time I've ever done. My knees won't be thanking me later. Must be some of that anger from yesterday coming out. I got some weight work and stretching in as well.
I'll try to get a few things done around here while I'm waiting for DD this morning and then I think the rest of the day will just be a fun day.
Patty-enjoy your Mayfest-sounds like fun. Hope DH got his lunch all packed up! I think DH got his all packed up by himself as well. He made some comment last night about how he should bring something for lunch but he couldn't figure out what! How about the concept of a sandwich with the cold cuts that I buy every week! Men-just really can't figure them out! Your plants really sound pretty. I love containers and I should figure out something to put in them this year other than the ordinary.
I had some marbles, but I lost them. Yes, I think I truly have... I do remember liking cat's eye marbles as a kid. Now, I collect shark teeth and put them in a glass vase. I haven't been going too much lately.
I'm dripping wet yet again. I was 3 times yesterday and only once from the pool. I went out and finished trimming the tallest row of shrubbery in the front of the house, 8 holly bushes down the side of the property, and spent a lot of time
Hello, Miss P! Happy Saturday to all. I hope it is a good one. Fitness wise, I did my weights and yoga this morning, but other than that, I am resting. I have people coming over for dinner tonight, and my son's soccer game to go to this afternoon. (I gotta run and marinate the chicken!) But first....
Well, I just came back from my book group. My book group is one of my pleasures in life. We all belong to the same church, and we meet there, but we read whatever we want to read (not necessarily religious). Today, we discussed Atonement. It is a nice "40 and up" group of women.
We always chat a little, personally. I reminded everyone that I wouldn't be at church tomorrow because I (that's me, the non-runner) would be running a 5 K -- right as the service starts! Almost everyone cried out: "I could never run three miles!"
With affection, I said: "You might be able to, if you had gotten up at six o'clock in the morning, four days a week the last ten weeks and gone running, like I just did...."
They're going to pray for me as the service starts!
Good afternoon! I used to play marbles as a kid and I wish I had saved those cat eyes. Your post brought back memories, Patty. Hope you enjoy your Mayfest and your run.
Happy to hear you'll be teaching again, and don't forget you have to be ready for us in October! :-) We have Silver Sneakers and Zumba Gold at the Y where I go. They get quite a turn-out.
