HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

There's some wonderful bright blue sky up there, but the wind is still a bit chilly.

I woke up to kisses from my two youngest boys this morning.

Hi, Miss P. Happy Mother's Day, everyone! Grace, I am going to try to copy that running smilie face onto my siggie!

The 5K today went great. If you combine being 49 with only having run for ten weeks, I am thrilled that I ran a steady twelve minute pace and finished in 37.41! Who knew it was possible to have a loop run that was all up hill? Well ladies, it is, if you just factor in some treacherous, steep short downhills once in a while. My son who just turned 14 performed an awesome 25:11, squarely beating his mother. What could make for a happier Mother's Day?

I was having a positive thought about the effort it takes to get fit in the forties and behond. We all know about metabolism changes and bone mass changes, which mean we have to work harder to achieve the results of yesterday. And, a lot of us have to adjust to serious challenges, aches and pains -- I don't mean to give short shrift to that. But, I was thinking, maybe we just need to think the same way we thought when we were young! We need to discover again the pure joy of exercise. We need to recapture the zest that we once had for being active. We need to start acting ... young again!

Now, that doesn't sound so bad, does it??
