Blue skies and mostly sunny here on LI. It would be extra nice if the wind wasn't there and just a bit warmer. But I will definitely take the sunshine.
In spite of waking up late and saying there goes exercise for the day I knew that there were tapes in the basement for 30 minutes so I'll give myself a toot for using 30 minutes wisely.
It was so windy and nasty last night I just wasn't inspired to get out with Otto but hopefully I will get out there this evening. The weather isn't looking over promising for the remainder of the week so we had better get out while we can.
Nothing much else going on around here unless you count marathon whishing and whirring of the washer & dryer to be exciting. Beginning prep of trial notebooks will be the excitement of the working world.
Nancy-that's great that you've got a walking group going.
Better get my workday clothes pressed and finish getting ready for the workday ahead. Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!
Anyway, the idea is to toot your own horn about successes / good things going on (big or small) lately.
I think "tooting" is important, but hmm, it sure can be hard to do sometimes (and this from a former trumpet player!). While out on a walk yesterday, a piece of music was on the radio that I hadn't heard in years, and I could feel myself choking up. It reminded me of a time some 20 years ago when I sang that piece in a choir, and I realized how much I really miss singing and playing an instrument. Then I got to thinking that I also miss writing. And is there a specific reason why I don't do these things anymore? Uh, no. Just lost track of them as life went on, I suppose.
Granted, there are things I do now that I didn't do in the past, so it's not as if I'm shedding old activities and not developing any new ones. It's not entirely the topic to this thread, but perhaps the task of listing a few small successes got me to thinking that there didn't seem to be as many of them as there used to be, and that got me to thinking about what else didn't seem to be part of my life anymore, either. (Hmm, I think this is turning into a ramble.)
But in an effort to toot a little, here are a few things that come to mind:
-- My first attempt at making a rhubarb pie on Sunday was a success (even the crust, which had me worried in the beginning). -- I haven't given up on my weight goals even when I've been more than ready to throw in the towel. (I've made no progress yet this year, but I admittedly haven't been trying very hard. See "pie," above.) ;) -- I started volunteering at a local hospice office doing bulk mailings, and just the act of preparing letters and cards for grieving families makes me realize how fortunate I am in many ways. -- I'm about to celebrate my 2nd anniversary next weekend, and so far, my husband seems inclined to keep me. (No small feat, since I am not the easiest person in the world to live with!)
