I just got in from my evening stroll with Otto. The weather was quite nice today and it made for a very nice after dinner walk.
My boss decided to take the day off and the boss who usually never mentions closing early said that if we had lunch with him we shut down at 3PM. Free lunch and 2 hour early departure...no problem there!
I made a stop at the library and picked up some new reading material and then headed home. I was going to go for a walk but Otto was enjoying being outside and since he's cooped up for most of the day I decided to let him enjoy his time outside. I spent some time reading and have bread baking in the bread maker. I also made some time for exercise.
DH got a haircut after work and since the barbershop is right next to the Chinese take out we decided to go for chinese. I'm glad of that since lunch was pizza.
Rhonda-did you go to the doctor? I hope you did and were able to get something to help you get over this crud you've got.
Donna & Margo I hope the workload eases up for both of you. You both are putting in some very long days.
Healthy activity for the day: weights and working on those pesky abs
Breakfast-Kashi Cinnamon whole wheat squares cereal with banana & strawberry slices, whole grain toast w/peanut butter, oj & coffee
Snack-almonds & raisins and well....one of our clients who brings in the best bakery cookies (comparable to the ones DH's dad used to make) had to try out one of those.
Lunch-2 slices of thin crust pizza w/a diet coke & one more cookie for the road
Dinner-steamed shrimp & broccoli over brown rice
I guess my lack of fruit today has me craving something so I'm looking for a nice crisp juicy apple or some of the cherries that I have in the refrigerator.
I'm headed upstairs. Not sure whether to watch "27 Dresses" or catch up on some things on my DVR or maybe I'll sit and finish my book.
That's about it from my neck of the woods. Hope you've all had a great day!
Susan
It's so early and I'm so hungry so I need to come here and hang out with you ladies :o).
Got my hair colored today and she cut it much shorter, with a lot more layers.
What a great day Jazz/Zumba/Chacha....

I hit my treadmill early for a quick 15 min interval run. Had hoped to get a 2nd one in but it didn't happen.
Had a nice compliment from the 2 young girls in the shop where I get my hair done. One had had a bad week and when she saw I was coming in she said it made her happy because she knew I'd perk her up. That was nice to hear. Also my age came up and I thought they knew how old I am but when I said 47 they both were surprised and one said

I feel so bad posting after the upbeat posts, but I think mine will be getting better before long. I've had almost no voice today and was sick enough that I did call for a dr. appt. I left early to take some stuff to Tim at his office. My evil twin wanted to see what was going on in the office, but I was saved from myself by him walking outside with his CEO just as I drove up. The CEO is so nice, decent, and funny that you can't help but feel good around him. He gave me a big hug and congratulations about Rob. I leaned to Tim and asked wasn't he going to give me a hug too. He had his hands kind of full and fumbled around, but said yes and gave me a hug
I explained to him some of the things I had for him and was very pleasant in my almost inaudible, raspy voice. I'd had a copy of a picture of Rob in his dress uniform with Dad at the hospital that he just loved. He said he is going to make it his screensaver. I need to try to download it to share with you. It is awesome to us. The CEO went inside after a while, and we walked to the other side of the building where I parked -- there's a hallway with glass doors at each end, so you can see from one side of the entrance to the other. We talked a bit more and he hugged me good-bye and wanted me to let him know how it went at the dr.
I guess the dr. appt. went well. I saw the nurse practitioner, and she was quite concerned about my lack of respiratory capacity. She was amazed that I wasn't on an inhaler. A pulmonary specialist put me on one 11 years ago, but I wouldn't stay on it for fear of becoming dependent. When I'm not sick I do OK with my breathing despite pneumonia 4X, bronchitis more times than I can count, and reactive airway disorder. She gave me a nebulizer treatment, but the lung capacity test didn't really change. She thinks maybe I just have a hard time blowing the way I'm supposed to, because my lungs sounded somewhat better. She didn't give a name to whatever it is I have, but I am on levaquin and a $60 for a tiny bottle of cough medicine with codeine in it. It must be strong, because the dosage is 1/2 to 1 teaspoon every 12 hours. What I was taking from the shelf is 2 tablespoons every 4 hours. She said I need to get lots of rest.
I texted Tim to let him know, as he asked. I also let him know Rob wants us to get together as a family. He suggested brunch Sunday and maybe swimming and visiting around the pool. I said great! It is so much nicer when we get along. Plus, if there is someone else in the picture, he can lie to HER about where he is to get away. I have to keep reminding myself that I catch so many more flies with honey than vinegar, and it's a lot healthier for me. The dr. thinks my stress levels have a lot to do with why I've been sick so much this last year.
I tried to nap this afternoon, but the dogs kept barking about one thing or another, so even after almost a teasp. of the codeine med, I didn't get much sleep. Rob is at his best friend's house. I tried calling Erin tonight, because she told Rob she was going to call me, but Joe answered. She'd left her phone at the house, and he was meeting her for dinner. His dad was bathing Jackson. I smile every time I think about Jackson. He is my screensaver in his little tux. :-) He said he'd have her call me about whether we can make plans for Monday or not.
I hope everyone has a good weekend.
