Water bottles, breakfast bread cut into bite-size pieces, apples, bananas, paper napkins, plastic trash-bag, nuts, camera handy, cd’s, list and directions of nearby places to eat and sleep, obviously, emergency kit and my purse, which is sometimes referred to as “small luggage” because it contains everything but the kitchen sink – oh, wait…there it is! ;-D

Heaven knows my family does lots of these, lol. I always have a blanket and a pillow in the back seat of the car. We pack a small cooler with water bottles, beach size bag with granola bars, apples, crackers, grapes, suntan lotion. I have in the back bin of my Explorer and Bill's truck a roll of paper towels and toilet paper. I usually grab a book or several magazines and now we all grab our ipods. Forgot to mention that we also take our cell phones and maps (we have GPS in Bill's truck).
