I don’t know about the rest of you but I really wasn’t concerned about skincare until I was about 24.

Too young!! It's no wonder girls worry so much about their looks... A fun day at glamour shots or birthday party getting hair done for fun... but spa total skin thing too much... too young.. JMO

I'm appalled by it all. More and more I read about teenagers getting breast implants, nose jobs because they don't like they way they look. Kids just seem to grow up way to fast and don't seem to have the time to be what they are...kids! 9 year old for spa treatment-yes that worries me.

Great post Deb...definitely the wrong message for these kids.

Too young! I can see a manicure and pedicure for fun occasionally, but the whole spa treatment at 9 yrs old?

Too young! I let Katie to the mani/pedi every once in a while. Actually Katie has really pretty nails on her fingers and when we do the mani she keeps them nice for a while. Plus the $21 is not bad once a month but a spa treatment is out of the question. Katie is blonde and we have not had the worry of plucking/waxing the eyes yet but shaving was an issue last year. I finally bought her the Nair product which was a compromize, now she shaves once a week with a regular razor (she is 14). I don't remember starting so young. But what I do have Katie do is wash her face with my Mary Kay Face Cleanser and put on some moisturizer because she does wear a little makeup to school. She washes before bed each night with it. I figure it might help her in the future with breakouts since both boys were prone to it around this age and Bill had horrible skin as a kid growing up.

You are right, the mother should be going to the spa with a friend, not her 9 year old daughter. However, I would question the integrity of any "professional" that would perform the treatments listed on a 9 year old.
