Busy day on the board! I've given up on trying to catch up on all the rest of the week, but am almost finished today's posts. I got back in town this morning instead of yesterday, because J. & E's. flight was delayed. It was almost 10 PM before we got to their house. They had gotten up at 3:30 AM Las Vegas time!
Had a GREAT time baby-sitting for Jackson! I took him to the airport one day to watch the planes and helicopters. He absolutely LOVES helicopters and even says it. We went to the grocery store, to Toys R'Us, where I got him a couple of different size helicopters and a really neat video about an aircraft carrier and the planes and helicopters on it, took long stroller rides toward dusk when it wasn't so hot,
Thanks for the welcome back, J/Z/CC-Deb! I miss Jackson already! Sure wish they lived here. I may have mentioned that a time or two.
I'm also really missing Zumba, but I just can't do it till this cough this goes away. You are turning out to be quite a mentor. I think you've found your calling.
R and R time sounds good. I was SO glad E. and J. got some. Their lives revolve around work, keeping a house you could eat off the floors, and of course, their little man, so they needed some time for just the two of them to have fun and be a couple instead of a Mom and Dad. When is your beach house time?
Can't believe the weather you're having while the East is sweltering. It gets weirder every year. I know it's gorgeous out there, but I could not function in that climate, just as people who can't stand heat and humidity couldn't stand to live here.
The report on the lawn is not a good one. And yes, we placed in the top 10 of his worst seen lawns-we've possibly taken over the first place position! He has no idea of what caused the problems in the first place. There's a couple including overwatering, fungus. He gave DH an estimate which at first we thought was really bad but looking over the bill from 4 years ago it didn't seem all that unreasonable-although it still made us shudder! We obviously have to do something and he has a different way of doing things than the original guy who did the work. He comes highly recommended by a client who is a builder and uses him for all of his landscaping.
I haven't heard from DS about his trip. I know they had rented a car but not sure what their exact plans were. I think DD had text messaged him about something but really didn't expect to hear from him. I'm sure we'll hear something towards the end of the week about his flight plans home and whether we need to pick him up from the airport. He has a really late flight coming into JFK and I'm sort of hoping that alternate plans can be worked out that doesn't involve driving his truck to the airport.
We apparently have a baby bird in the bird house that DH built and put in the backyard. It was supposed to attract bluebirds but it looks like a baby sparrow. DH spotted the little guy sticking its head out of the hole. We thought it might have been abandoned since it was just sticking its head out waiting. But while we were having dinner we spotted one of the parents feeding it. It was pretty cool!
Otto and I ventured out after dinner for a walk. It's still hot and humid here so I didn't want to wander too far. Otto was a bit miffed at me since I made him go down a different block that is nice and shady. There was a breeze blowing but it really wasn't helping too much.
I made my way to the basement and did a workout. In spite of having the fan on down here I worked up quite the sweaty workout. I think the sweat was probably due more to the heat and humidity then to the intensity of the workout!
Dh proudly told me how he washed rocks today and used a toothbrush to clean them. I didn't quite know what to think of that or what or where these rocks are supposed to be used for. Apparently they're supposed to be part of his garden scenery. I was a little less than pleased that he washed rocks and not the bathroom but apparently maybe he knew that since he's upstairs cleaning the bathroom. I'm just waiting until he's done so I can jump in the shower. It's so hot upstairs that I don't even want to think of using the upstairs bathroom. Thankfully all the acs are installed as well although I do believe there were some not so nice words used this afternoon when he couldn't find all the hardware for the one in DS room. It's in but not right and when something like that isn't done right he's not happy!
I called the Benefits Office today and got the official word that we really do have insurance. My prescriptions were about to run out again and I will gladly pay the copay rather than the full price! My missed doctor's appointment is rescheduled and two other follow up appointments have been scheduled.
Nancy-how did the piano thing go! You didn't put DH in it and roll him out to the trailer did you? Rhonda-so nice to have you back and glad you were able to spend the time with Jackson. I do hope you start to feel better soon. This has been a really long road for you with whatever latched on to you. Donna-hope the knees are feeling better soon. Grace-hope you're feeling better as well.
Wow, so your lawn is like famous. Not good, obviously... Sure hope it doesn't take anything too drastic to fix it. Mine looks like a jungle, it needs to be cut so badly. Neighbors will probably start picketing soon.
One good thing about Orlando, gas is cheaper there than in Jacksonville and definitely cheaper than Palm Beach. I'm seeing $3.99 here, Rob said $4.16 down there, and I saw "as low as" $3.84 in Orlando. That should help a little with the rental car. It gets so stiffling down there in the afternoon with the intense heat and then the humidity of the thunderstorms. Hope he's prepared for that. Gatorade and a portable fan help some if he's doing theme parks, or going to Wet n' Wild and places like that.
How neat that your birdhouse has an occupant. I think I need to put up an "Express Occupancy" sign like I see in some developments in my bluebird McMansion.
So happy and relieved for you that you have insurance!!!
So, what did you do today? Washed rocks... Hmmmmm. ;-)

Don't come to NY for gas. When I filled up on Saturday gas was at $4.32 for regular.
