just the other day! It always amazes me how these things come along when I am thinking about it. Do any of you have the same problem of not doing things because you are afraid of doing it wrong?

I think I'm finally reaching an age where I don't give a hoot about what others think.

I agree with N&D. I care less what other people think except about character and other important qualities. The big thing I have to overcome is fear of faillure in my own eyes. That really limits me.

This has been a huge issue with me for years. I often shy away from trying something new unless I think I can be good at it (or at least show some real promise) right away. And after my first big screw-up, I'll often quit. (So, uh, just guess how easily I give up on weight loss when I don't succeed immediately.) I'm no psychiatrist, but maybe this sort of behavior stems from fear of being considered unworthy by others, or fear of actively proving to others the lack of worth one already feels about herself. I still remember the sting of other kids calling me "fatso" on the playground, or of high school friends forgetting about me once we left for different colleges, etc., and for hypersensitive types like me, those things linger on through life. Intellectually, I know people don't judge me nearly as much as I think they do, and that I'm only hurting myself by being afraid to try new things, but emotionally, it can sometimes be a real battle.

This is a personal thing with me too Rhonda...I want it to be "right" for me. I am also past that age when I don't care what other people think, but I feel I have to do my personal best. So, I am with the rest of you with what you say too.
