in the land of technology. Yes, I was in withdrawal and I'm so very glad that the telephone/internet/tv people showed up and fixed the problem!

I'm sure that it's going to be difficult to catch up, being away one day is hard enough. I tried to skim through posts at work but that has been a brutal place to be the past few days.

Saturday was a very long day with the trip to Conneticut. The stroke has left my sister unable to speak. We think that she recognized us as she gave us all a big smile and a big hug. You could see her trying to verbalize words and unable to do so and it's heartbreaking. Shortly after arriving at the hospital she was due to be transferred back to the nursing home/rehab center. Unfortunately there were no beds in the rehab center only in the nursing home facility. Quite frankly, I'm not sure whether anyone would have come in if there hadn't been family there. We met BroomHilda the charge nurse. There were questions and she clearly didn't want to be challenged on anything. She was to be evaluated by PT's, OT's and a speech therapist yesterday. She has a long way to go and she is on heavy duty antibotics for a bacterial infection that started this whole thing. They won't know for awhile whether that condition has cleared up. They never did an MRI but rather two CT's and none of us can quite figure out the reason for that and we'll just say that the hospital facility is a very small little country hospital that doesn't look like it's equipped to handle much. In fact they have their standards records up on the wall and wouldn't say it's anything to boast about. I only hope that pray that they know how to deal with this in way that my sister can get as much help as possible to regain her use of the spoken word or at least the ability to communicate.

We ran into a massive rain and thunderstorm on the way back although once we traveled further south the rain had stopped. We did take the ferry back to Port Jefferson which took some of the driving time off of my BIL. By the time we got back to their house it had started raining there and I decided to head home which was probably a huge mistake on my part. I ran into a huge rainstorm complete with huge bolts of lightning and for parts of the drive I couldn't see the road. I was very thankful to reach home. About the time I headed home is when we lost telephone service. DH finally reached me from his cell phone after I couldn't get him back on the phone.

Meanwhile DS was headed back from Florida. His flight was supposed to arrive at JFK at 10:40PM but he didn't leave Orlando until 11:30. The planes were so backed up the plane ended up circling for almost 2 hours. When he finally got in it was almost an hour before the baggage from the plane came out on the baggage pick up. I think it was finally about 5:15AM before they finally came in the door.

Sunday was spent trying to get hold of the technology people. So much aggravation, so much time on hold and their stupid robot woman who couldn't understand what I was saying!

Work has been a horror. I ended up staying in the office until well after 6 last night and my boss really needs to learn that he's a boy and that he's stupid! Lots of shovels needed!

Party plans are well under way. I told DH that DD is coming down to get measured for her dress for the wedding and suggested that we invite his two sisters and his nieces and their families to celebrate his birthday and his sister's birthday. It worked out quite nicely since the back yard is a mess and I knew I wouldn't have time to clean it up. So he was happily outside cleaning up the patio, mowing the lawn and scrubbing down chairs. How nice of him to clean up for his party!

Lawn guy is coming tomorrow too! He called me and I didn't have to chase him down. Love a reliable person-few & far between in my opinion! They're coming to rip everything out, grade it all and put down insecticide which is what he thinks is a possiblity for things not working out the first time. So he'll do that and then we have to water, water, water to pound the chemicals down into the ground. They'll return next week and topsoil and lay the sod. All I can say is that one bit of trouble and I'll be calling!

That about sums up my last 3 days. I have a doctor's appointment this evening-happily just paying a copay.

If I remember correctly I know Rob was taking a test-hope all went well with that Rhonda. Donna was talking about wonderful sounding food-no pidgeons live here! Nancy was decluttering and I was very jealous! DD and I figured that the only way I'll ever have the decluttered home of my dreams is to move and leave half the stuff as take what you want on the front lawn. I just read Cha/Cha wasn't feeling well-does sound like you weren't hydrating yourself very well. Hope you're feeling better. Deb/MN had some gorgeous flowers posted and a very nice graduation picture. And Patty was wondering if I had a shovel-yes one in each hand and several in the background ready for use! I know Grace went to Mexico and I hope she's having a wonderful time. I know I've missed people but just wanted you all to know that I've missed you all and have had no one to share my morning cup of coffee with! So very glad to be back!
