So I'm at the homestead for the weekend.

Enjoy your four day weekend at the homestead Lori! There's nothing like fresh veggies from your own garden!

I'm winding down for Wednesday and about ready to hit the sack. I'm pooped! It was a busy and tiring day at work and glad that my Thursday will actually be Friday.
I did manage to change gears at 5PM and don my chef hat although it was a bit of a struggle this evening after the busy day at the office. Otto and I headed out for our walk after dinner and he surprised me by giving us both a rather brisk walk. I took myself out for a walk this evening and it was another enjoyable summer evening.
Did a little bit of reading and TV watching and now I'm ready to head off to bed. Hope everyone has had a wonderful Wednesday-nighty night!

It sure made me feel good to read about your conversation with your mom and your having 4 days off. I hope it will recharge your batteries and be filled with lots of things you enjoy doing, including outdoor walks with your pupsters.
Green peas were one of my favorite things when I had a garden. When you can eat them fresh picked while the sugar is high and before it turns to starch, they are wonderful!
Thanks so much for keeping Rob in your thoughts. :-)

I did a few exercises with heavier dumb bells this morning when I first got up, then got ready for the reception of the fallen Marine Sgt. at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. As I arrived at the base, so did the hearse and 2 limos. Tears started falling as soon as I saw them even though I knew it was empty. Literally thousands of people lined the main street of the huge base to pay respects to the fine young hero. It did my heart good to see such an outpouring of support from the community. My cousin's husband had told me where he'd be standing and I was able to find him, so we watched together. Everyone put their hands over their hearts as the procession passed. There was good coverage on all the local news stations. Hope our newspaper will too.
I went to the nursing home from 12:15 to after 6:00. It drives me crazy to sit still all day, so I ran some errands around the building and used the set of 3 lbs. dumb bells I'd brought for Dad to work my triceps while we watched TV. He was doing fairly well today, but didn't want to walk with the restorative therapists. We compromised and made it a much shorter walk. I took ankle weights and laid them across his knees while he sat with his legs elevated in his recliner. I'm hoping the pressure will help straighten his knees and lengthen his hamstrings which are so extremely drawn up.
Got home and was feeling really low about coming home to an empty house. I'd been feeling kind of needy all day and texted with Rob a bunch, Lauren a few times, and talked to Rob and Mom
