Good evening! Well, it's a good thing I got in a little workout this morning when I first woke up, because that's pretty much been the extent of it today. I was at the nursing home from 10:20 till 3:00 and was fighting sleep so hard that I wondered if I'd make it home. As soon as I got home, I put on my robe and hit the bed. I got in some broken sleep. Couldn't turn my head off and I got a few text messages. Still, the rest helped.
I got up at 7 and went outside to make myself do something productive. Wound up planting the 18 red salvia in the front flower bed and cleaning out the dead stalks from the alstroemeria. While the bed could definitely use more flowers, it's still a big improvement. I put 2 small flags on sticks at the end of my front sidewalk too.
I talked to my neighbors and they're coming over tomorrow later in the afternoon to swim and eat with us. Can't wait to see Caiden and Jackson in the pool together. :-) Also, Rob's girl friend and her mother are coming over. It will be the first time her mother has been here. I should be cleaning and all kinds of stuff, but will probably just scrub the kitchen and breakfast room floor and make sure the main bathroom is fine.
There's a special hr and 45 min. Zumba class tomorrow morning. I'd like to go if I have the oomph to make it. I'll have to make a run to the store for food and paper products for tomorrow too and cut up the fruit for fruit salad. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible. I have lounges in the shed that will need to be washed off and put out. It's neat to actually entertain again. I mean I have my regular family here occasionally, but this is a little different. I want people and laughter and activity here.
Today was Lauren's 41st birthday. Hard to believe she qualified for the board a year ago!! I keep telling her it's hard to get used to her being older than I am. LOL! Mom flew to MD and arrived this afternoon. Cheryl got to the airport over half an hour early to be sure she'd be there and Mom wouldn't freak if she didn't see her. Dad was missing her a lot already. He said this morning when we were listening to the music and the guy sang their song that he missed her. I got up and jitter bugged with the man in the wheel chair that I had a dance date with. He got a kick out of it and so did some visitors at his table. Later, another resident tried the electric slide with me. The singer wants to learn how to do it, but he said he'd rather watch me. Funny.
Talked to Rob a little while ago. He was heading to bed, since it's back to work tomorrow. No holiday on the 4th for him.
I still haven't eaten dinner, so guess I should fix something. Have a good night all.
Sounds like a fun time for you tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy the day together!
I'm sure the residents at the nursing home really appreciate your interaction with them. My mom was in a nursing home for a number of years and I know how much they loved company and sometimes just someone to talk to.
So very glad that the work day ended a little early. We had lunch in so that we could leave early. We were out of there just before 3. I went over to DSW and hoped that I would just be able to make an even exchange on the shoes. Unfortunately the one pair were nowhere to be found and the other pair they didn't have my size and nothing in black. The one pair of shoes that were too big turned out to be an 8 1/2 although the box was marked a 7. I've reordered both pairs off the website in a different size and hopefully this works out better. If they're wrong at least I can return them to the store and I'm reimbursed for the shipping charge.
I watched an Oprah that I hadn't seen and decided that instead of just sitting and watching TV I would pull out my weights and do some ab work. It was a bit counterproductive with the cake I ate after dinner. I didn't even want to know what the fat and calorie count was on it.
DD and BF came by for dinner. I haven't seen DD since the end of last week. Since school is out she's spending more time at the BF's apartment. It was nice having them for dinner and it was nice to put dinner together at a more leisurely pace than the rush through the door at 5.
Otto and I took a nice walk. We left a little later than usual since the humidity is on the rise here. I came home and sat outside with my book for awhile and have been watching some HGTV.
That's about it from my world. Hope you've all had a pleasant day and enjoy a good night's rest.
Wow, a lot of work and stress on you right now, Patty. I hope it eases up and you have a fun 4th. Sending positive thoughts and hugs your way.
Since you have to shower and wash your hair so often, what do you use to keep from getting dry? I'm just curious now that my hair and body skin have gotten so much dryer with hormone changes.

Exactly what I hoped would happen today happened - not a thing!
