I'm hoping you all will jump on board and we can have a lively discussion about purging the clutter in our lives and discuss ways each of us has found to organize our life.

So what is the biggest clutter problem in your life and what have you done or would you like to do to cure it?

My DD Tara has implemented a filing system that has me intrigued because it seems so simple and straightforward.

As I sort through my kitchen I find myself wondering what I really need and what is really gathering dust and cluttering up my life.

Great idea! My daughter is also very organized. She was considering starting a business on the side to help people get organized and get rid of clutter because she's so good at it. I could be her first client!!

Unfortunately, the main "clutter" is in my head right now and until I get that worked out, I don't think I'll be terribly successful trying to rid myself of clutter in other places. I got two books today to work on the internal clutter.

The biggest clutter problem right now is trying to resolve the issues that have built up over the years and having the patience to resolve them and to work on new ways of doing things that won't have this happen again. Of course the other problem is the other half of the equation that has severe problems letting go, bringing more stuff in and lots of guilt when I'm willing to let things go! I'm trying to get rid of the guilt ridden things by disposing when eyes can't see. I know that if I want to truly trim down the clutter I have to make the decision on those things that are special and have a true meaning to me and those that I have just to hold on to them.

I do like that idea. I may think about using that when I get to actually set up an office space. Right now I'm using file cabinets which aren't too bad as long as I keep up with the shredding once a year. But to make the new space nice and neat and streamlined that might be a great solution!

I have to say my kitchen is pretty streamlined although I do have a couple of frying pans that aren't used very often which because of massive space issues probably could be put into a give away pile. Most of the kitchen appliances are used on a fairly regular basis although again because of space issues are kept in the basement pantry shelves.

I will admit to a cookbook addiction. I have gotten rid of quite a few of them and I try to only keep those that I use on a regular basis. I enjoy sitting and looking through them as well as my Cooking magazines so I still feel that they're not at the clutter stage yet.

The mail is a huge issue in our house as well. The junk mail sits there and sits there and nobody wants to do anything with it because it's junk mail!

The one thing that I've done to cut down on all the credit card junk mail is to use the OPT out number that is one the back of the offer. Since I've down that It's cut down tremendously on the amount of that type of mail that I get except for the junk mail from the credit cards that I do have. I unfortunately have inspired the rest of the family to join in!

Deb,

I had a closet full of clothes that were different sizes and last year I removed everything from the closet and put it on my king size bed.
