How did you spend your day after the holiday today? Anyone recovering from too much partying, too much eating, and of course, too much yard work?

Evening Everyone,
Today I can't say I amounted to much of anything other taking giant exhales throughout the day but I'm happy to say I feel much better even if I don't have any accomplishments to tell you about.
Glad the tires are done on my car and thankful DH did it for me.

Today was another fairly tough day. I'm discovering a pattern here. When I have people around and have things to do that are fun and engaging and then suddenly I'm alone again, the lonliness is more pronounced. Rob said that's what he goes through when he has to leave family and friends and go back to the station. It's harder than when he's been there all week. I think the email from Tim has my adrenaline going too even though the couple since have seemed benign. I guess we'll meet sometime Monday. He doesn't keep his phone on long enough for us to talk, so we wind up texting or emailing, which drags things out and is annoying.
I talked to Rob quite a long time this evening and we texted throughout the day. He seemed to be doing pretty well. Looks as though he'll take his test tomorrow. I pray he will get certified, then he can move on to boat crew certification, which should be much more interesting and active. He's a do-er. A new guy who's 25 and a vet of another

A run to Costco this morning took most of the morning. By the time I got things unloaded and moved around and put away it was past 11AM. I did some household things and then stopped to have some lunch. I headed back to the basement after lunch and did some more shredding and when I started to feel overwhelmed I headed upstairs to attend to some housecleaning chores. I unearthed a couple of boxes of video tapes. I think most of them are garbage. We have a DVD/VCR player that allows you to put the video on to DVD. She had taken a lot of the home videos and cartoon shows that they all enjoyed watching while growing up and put them on the DVD. I'm just not sure whether she ever finished the project. I ran a couple of the tapes through the VCR that's down here and one by one I'll discard the ones that are trash. She had the box marked garbage (?) so I'll just make sure before tossing. The one other box I unearthed I'll have to check with her. I may take the box with me when I go visit her and leave her to figure it out when she has time. I did find a box of my own that contained my old report cards, a million and one post cards. I found them and remembered that I used to collect them. I think I'll go through them and maybe pick a few really nice ones and frame them and put them into one of my new rooms I have planned. I also found a letter that my Dad had written me when I was away at school and a letter from my Grandmother. My various diplomas were in there as well. My birth announcement and my hospital discharge papers from Hartford Hospital after I was born. It had formula instructions on it and it looked like it must have been my identification tag which was a cardboard tag with a piece of string attached. How times have changed! The big box I was soon able to pare down to a small plastic container. I did mange to pack up two boxes of trash and found boxes for the old cable modem and router that we no longer use so I can toss them as well. Slowly but sure I'm making some progress I just wish I could inspire DH to do the same. I know he's overwhelmed by the process as well but he's so reluctant to let anything go and he keeps bringing in.
I did manage to get a decent dinner on the table. I had unthawed a London Broil yesterday and never used it so it really had to used this evening. I made it into kabobs and put them on the bbq. While dinner was marinating I cleaned out some of the must gos out of the refrigerator. I actually found a 1/2 gallon of milk in the refrigerator downstairs. It was so far back in the refrigerator and must have been in a position in the refrigerator that it was frozen solid. Milk rarely gets thrown out in this house but that one did.
Otto and I headed out for a walk after dinner. The humdidty has been really nasty today and although the temperature hasn't been hot I had to turn on the ac to get the house less clammy feeling.
I've been doing some meal planning and watching HGTV and I have a feeling I'll be doing some dishes since DH disappeared into the bedroom awhile ago and I haven't seen him since.
That's about it from my small corner of the world.

Glad that DH took care of your tires Margie and looked at the rest of the car for any maintenance that needs to be taken care of.
I'm glad the exhales are helping you through all of this. The emotional upheaval plus figuring out the practicalities of the situation must be mind boggling.
I'm glad Tara didn't suffer any injuries from the accident and she's doing OK.

Rhonda,
I'm so sorry with all that you're dealing with right now. I hope Rob does well on his test and gets his certification-lots to be proud of!
Thinking of you!

It was a pretty typical day here. I
