Hi there! I thought that I would join the board. My name is Nancy, I'm 47, married, no kids and I live in South Carolina. I'm having to deal with several health issues right now and I'm trying hard to get my life back on track. So I'm hoping to find support here and to make new friends.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and to become involved in the discussions.

Welcome! Should I call you Sis for short, since there's already one Nancy? What do you prefer?
Happy to have you join us. We're active in so many areas and are there for each other through the good and the bad. I'm married, but currently going through a divorce, so next month I should be single for the first time in a very long time. I live in Florida, have a married daughter (22 month old grandson) in Orlando, a son who's newly in the Coast Guard in the

Sure, you can call me Sis or Sister, whichever one you prefer.
I'm sorry to hear about you impending divorce. I know what that's like. I was married for 10 years and was divorced in 1996. But I learned that it's not the end of the world and sometimes it's a blessing. So if you feel the need to talk, I'll listen, because I know what you're going through.
My brother and SIL live in FL.
I've heard a few other people mention Zumba. What exactly is that?
Hi Nancy,

Thanks. I'm sure in time things will look a lot brighter.
Zumba is a combination of various Latin dances, hip hop, reggaeton, and belly dancing, depending on the particular song. It's a form of cardio exercise, but I think of it as active meditation, because it's so fun and you're so focused on dancing that you tend to forget everything else for that hour. Most of the YMCA's have classes, some gyms do, and even the country club where my sister lives is offering classes now. A word of advice, teachers vary greatly so check out several and see the difference.
I've been taking since Feb. '07 and have tried a number of instructors here, had classes with master instructors from other areas, and took a class with Beto, the creator of Zumba, and no two instructors are alike. We're fortunate to have a fabulous one not far from here, so even though it's twice as far as the closest Y, I go to that one.
J-Deb (Cha Cha Deb) has turned into a fantastic instructor and teaches many classes a week in Washington State. I got certified, but don't have any desire to teach. I just wanted to take all day from 2 master instructors.
Where in FL do your relatives live? I'm in Jacksonville.
