Deb glad that no one was hurt from your Thursday storm. Cleaning up the mess after something like that blows through is not easy. Thank goodness we have been lucky here on LI, years ago it felt like every year we got hit with a hurricane or a North Easter but knock on wood we have been lucky. Living on an island has its pluses and minuses. Enjoy your wedding today! And congrats on those missing pounds. Lets hope they ran away.....far away and don't come back, lol.
Sometimes I need someone to just hit me over the head with a 2X4 to make me see what I have........after Katie's friend Meg left it was time for Katie to clean up her room then get ready for a party. She did her room clean up without an arguement then came down feeling crummy with a belly ache. She wanted to go to this party, it was a sleep over/pool party. Started at 6pm and the girls were staying outside in a huge tent. Katie did not want to sleep over and I was getting angry at her. I just could not understand what was making her feel ill and making her not wanting to sleep over. She decided just to stay until 11:00 at the pool party part. I said OK, your choice. Well my sister and I were talking later and I was expressing my concerns and she yells at me. Can you believe she yelled at me??? Well
Good morning! Thanks for your good thoughts. I am putting on a game face and just trying to keep on keepin' on.
We've had so much rain here and will be getting more. As soon as I finish here, I need to drain the pool some. It rained while former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele was here, but thankfully the big decks at the restaurant were covered. There was a good turnout and he gave an excellent talk. I met him afterwards and told him how much I enjoyed his TV appearances and how he did them with such class instead of talking over people as so many others do. He knows my cousin's husband who used to be a MD state legislator. Small world!
I went from there about half a mile down the road to where the boat was docked. It was neat, sort of a riverboat style, 2 stories with lots of windows and parquet dance floors and bars on both floors. People brought a ton of food. I didn't dress "beachy", because I'd been to the Republican function, but I did have on bright red slacks (something I've never owned before), high red heels (to change for my dance shoes), and a crisp white, tucked blouse. I have been on a red kick lately. During a few times in my life when I've felt empowered or needed power I've shopped out of the box and bought red, which I've been doing lately. I always think of Donna, because I know she's a red fan.
I had a wonderful time despite thinking about Tim several times. Everyone was so friendly, and I got to dance a lot even though I'm a novice. The views of the city at night were just beautiful. We cruised back and forth several times. There was a Jaguars scrimmage going on and we could see the stadium and what was on the Jumbotron screen. I got home a little after 11 and that was late enough for me.
Tim came by this morning. He had said he'd be here between 8 and 9, but I'd emailed him late last night to ask if he could make it 9. He came at 8:30 while I was in the bathroom and didn't hear the bell, so he left the signed papers in the newspaper on the front porch. As soon as I saw the newspaper there, I knew he'd been here, so I checked my phone and he'd texted. I called and he was just down the street getting gas, so he came back. He went right to business getting his bike and taking the front wheel off to fit it in the car.
I gave him the leftover cherry chocolate cake to take to the office. He loves it, and I don't need it. I also gave him some mail, but slipped in 2 copies of old love letters he'd written to me to remind him of the things he used to tell me and a risque Christmas card from a woman he worked with. I'd found it in 12/06 in his brief case after a trip and that's when everything first hit the fan. I wrote inside, "I can finally let this go. 8/01/08" Don't know if he read it or just pitched it. What's really weird is as he walked in the door the song on the radio was "Another One Bites the Dust". He repeated the words. I could
I'm not doing too much right now. But later this evening DH and I are going to an adults only event called Brew at the Zoo. It's held annually at our local zoo and there will be over 200 different types of beer to sample, music and a dinner buffet. Since DH doesn't really drink all that much he's getting the designated driver's ticket. He's going mainly for the food. I went to something similiar once with a friend when I used to live in Knoxville, TN and they held something like this at the Knoxville Zoo. So we're both really looking forward to it.
Good morning..
I have a little time before I go to work this morning so I thought I would pop in to see if I could catch up a little.
On Thursday we had a storm go through here. We received some rain, but south of here they had damage.
