This postcard, sent in 1907 and captioned "Monday Morning in N. Y. City", reflects the tradition of Monday as a day for washing clothes

Good morning everyone! The pic above is actually from a postcard

I had a shock when I clicked on the board this morning. In the right hand top corner where the ads are, there were 4 pictures of women pulling down thong type underwear in various poses!!! I went away from the site and when I came back it was an ad for Office Max. Has anybody else had that pop up? Hope it was a one time thing.

Good morning, Patty, and all. It is hard to believe kids will be going back to school, especially as hot as it is here. The other evening it was 101 at 6:00 PM and it was almost 7:30 before it went below 100. On top of that, we have almost daily thunderstorms to keep the humidity in the "air so thick you could cut it" range.

I went to church with Erin, Joe, and Jackson yesterday. Was surprised to see her father and step-mother come. They usually don't. Jackson was happy to see me, and I was ecstatic to see him. After church they went to her dad's to put Jackson down for a "short" nap. About 10 after 4 I got a message that they were pulling out of the driveway to go to the nursing home. Originally, they were going to leave town at 4. I raced over there and actually arrived before they did. Got to visit for almost half an hour before I had to take off for my dance lesson. I'd already missed 2 and this was the next-to-the-last one. Dad seemed to be doing somewhat better.

I got an email from Mom last night that Tim showed up about the time she was helping Dad eat dinner. He never let me know he had gone. I guess he figures Mom will tell me and I'll call and play 20 questions. Not going to do it. She did say he didn't seem awkward, which surprised me. He was still there when she left. I had let him know Dad wasn't doing well and he told me he'd get by to see him. I told him we'd be there on Sunday. Don't know if he thought he'd catch us there or figured he'd waited late enough for us to be gone. He'd have seen our cars weren't in the parking lot and that Mom's was. I think he's been dreading being around Mom.

Dance class was fun. Aterward, nine of us went upstairs in the clubhouse to get something to eat and drink, and the man who'd asked me out picked up the tab for another woman and myself, which I thought was very nice. We sat around and talked almost 2 hours. There are several dances and parties in the works, including a weekend at Jekyll Island, GA, a weekend in Daytona Beach, and a week in Myrtle Beach, SC. I'm not planning to go to any of those. I will go to some local things coming up and am looking forward to them.

I need to take 2 skirts to the tailors this morning to have them taken up -- a good thing. Need to make a vet appt. for Katie. She's still limping on her left back foot. Need to call for my biopsy results when the dr's. office opens and need to schedule a re-check for my right eye. Zumba is from 10 to 11, then will race home to get a shower and wash my hair, so I can get to the nursing home.

Woke up a little before 5 AM and could not get back to sleep. After over an hour, I got tired of my mind racing and started doing exercises lying in bed until the alarm went off at 7.

Oh, here's a link to a really neat, fairly complex line dance that's new to me. It's done to Chris Anderson's version of the song "Last Night". I'm just learning this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6E1VRIjXPY&feature=related

Good Morning,

A nice cool start to the day. Our beautiful day of sunshine turned into a rainy afternoon yesterday. I was very productive yesterday but on some fun projects too. I deleted all the pictures on my digital frame and put different ones on it. Straightened up my checkbook so it makes sense now. Cleaned off the top of my desk and it looks so nice. I really hope I take the time to keep it that way. I'll be glad when I get the computer out of the basement and upstairs. I'm going to use DD's smaller desk and I think that will help the desktop stay looking nicer.

My first day of my week off. It's starting off a bit on the slow side. I got sidetracked by phone calls by both DD's. I have my annual checkup with the gyn today and then later in the day Otto gets to go the vet-always a challenging experience! Between doctor's appointments I think I'm going to use my gift card and get myself an IPOD Nano. The gift card has been sitting in my wallet for months. I have other places I may go just not sure yet. I still have my Lord & Taylor gift card as well and I know they're having a sale on their clearance rack so hoping maybe the remainder on the gift card may go a bit further or maybe nothing at all. DD mentioned she would like to go there. She's tutoring this morning so that may be a later in the morning stop.

I can't believe it's almost a new school year and I know DD can't quite believe it either. School doesn't actually start here until after Labor Day but DD will be returning to work in 2 weeks-hard to believe-wasn't it just Memorial Day!

I'm supposed to be on the treadmill this morning but obviously I'm not. I still have to shower and get ready for my doctor's appointment so that's probably not going to happen this morning.

Rhonda-saying a prayer that your biopsy results will be good news. I was sorry to hear about the scare with your Dad.

Karen-love the photos of your patio project!

Nancy-glad to hear that Kyle is doing well. Continued prayers for him and a complete recovery.

Better get on my way and get a few things accomplished before heading out the door. Hope all is well with everyone and a good start to the day and week ahead!

Good morning friends.......on the road again. I feel like I have done lots of traveling, or is it the crazy pace of my life??? Bill and I left yesterday morning, we wanted to leave LI around 6 am but got a late start. We left at 7:45 instead, thank goodness getting off the island was easy. Bill drove about 5 hours during that time we stopped for gas, did a coffee/tea break and a potty break (2 times, lol). He hit a patch of pouring rain which also slowed us down. We switched and I took the wheel and managed about 90 minutes worth while he napped. I also hit a patch of pouring rain in West Virginia........man these southerners are allowed to drive 70 MPH not like home where the speed limit is 55 MPH. We stopped and grabbed burgers at Burger King.......OMG darn near killed my stomach! Thank goodness Bill had Tums ih his bag! Not used to eatting stuff like that anymore. Got back on the road and drove past Patty's area........Luray, Virginia. Patty we traveled the PA turnpike, highway 81, I think. Well we made it hear around 8:30, we are in a town called Concord, NC. Going to check out the area, see the new drag track they are building, next to the NASCAR track then head over to Katie in the afternoon. She is spending her last day with Meghan and enjoying the pool. We are having dinner at Meghans house and then we will head out with Katie. Not sure of our destination tonight, might hang here in NC for a couple more hours tomorrow then head back up north early evening. Plan on gettins some of the return trip done so that Wednesday does not hurt. We both need to be back at work Thursday. We want to get through the NYC traffice early so we are not caught in the 5:00 rush hour. I will try and check back later, have a good day everyone!

Good morning ladies,

I had one of those amazingly deep sleeps last night and woke up very refreshed and raring to go this morning so my week is starting off very well so far.

Hi, all...my clean underwear was put on along with the clean workout clothes and I did not accomplish a workout since there was a "mixup" at the gym. The director hired an instructor to do the senior class permanently and failed to mention it to me. I understand she needed a definite answer about teaching that class but I said I would do it and give a definite answer after I go to the dr the end of this month. I never said I was not available now. Oh well...a phone call would have been nice. I got completely disgusted and ended up not doing any kind of workout and went shopping instead. Hit Bath and Body Works, Pathmark, Michaels, Costco (return), and Trader Joes. Of course I had to buy food!! Anyway, I never made it to the bank since I got caught in the downpour coming out of Trader Joes. At least I had a nice lunch.

It seems I had a very boring weekend compared to the rest of you. And school almost starting for a lot of the kids? Yikes...I certainly wasted this summer with getting fit and losing weight. Good thing my life didn't depend on it.

Nancy...so glad you had a nice day yesterday. You certainly got a lot in!

Lori...sorry the rain ruined your plans for the weekend especially with getting your bike and rack ready. How many jars of cucumbers did you do? Sounds liek a lot of work and sorry your back was hurting. But, standing that long would do it.

Rhonda...how wonderful you got to have some grandma time with Jackson. Isn't it the best? Thank goodness for those grandbabies and the joy they bring. Sure did save my vacation in Maine with all the rain. What could be bad with 3 of the darlings around?

I think I will have to go back and reread the posts. AS usual, great post this morning Patty. I do like having a clean slate and clean laundry...
