Rules of the road for multi-use paths
| Mon, 09-08-2008 - 12:48pm |
Good morning! I recently had a run-in with a dog walker who called me an "a**hole" after I complained about her dog's leash stretching across the entire path I was running on. It's not just a matter of consideration; there are safety issues, too. So I'm compiling a list of etiquette rules for multi-use paths over on my blog.
Here are some of the "etiquette rules" I have so far:
--pass on the left and announce your approach ("On your left!")
--check your blind-spots regularly and always check before changing direction
--never travel more than two abreast and avoid meandering---others should be able to get around you without being forced off the path
If you have any to add, I'd love it if you could drop by my blog and let me know. Thanks!

Love your etiquette rules! You have touched on things that get me annoyed and it all comes down to common courtesy, which seems to be very lacking these days.
I will have to remember to say "on your left", even though I always pass on the left.
Hope to have time to visit your blog.

Thanks. I couldn't agree more about the lack of common courtesy. I mean, we all "get in the zone" or just lose focus sometimes when we're out there, but so many people just seem oblivious and unconcerned about those around us.
Off-topic, what do "CI" and "CO" mean?
Co-Community Leader of the board. Patty and I share moderating this board. It is way too busy for just one cl and Patty is a very inspirational cl.
