Always hungry no willpower

Let me start by saying I am 43 years old. I am very happily married, kids grown & gone. We own a beautiful home.
I have or beleive I have ADHD/ADD, I have seen so many Dr.'s & phychologists, they put me on different meds to help, but make me very cranky.
I have been put on celexa recently to help with crankys.
My biggest obstacle in life is the willpower, stregnth, & motivation. I am hungry all the time, it's like watching myself eat without even paying attention. I truly believe sometimes I don't even taste the food. Am I missing a key nutrient? I can't figure it out, I quit smoking cigs. If anyone out there has advice, I would welcome it.

Welcome to the board! First of all, congratulations on quitting smoking! If you can do that, you can surely master your cravings, etc. Did you begin wanting to eat all the time after going on Celexa or has this been an ongoing problem? Certain medications can cause you to want to eat all the time, which of course, will eventually put on weight. Do you have certain forms of exercise that you like best?

Look forward to you posting more and getting to know you better.

Hang in there!

Welcome to the board. So many factors come into place and sometimes it's just not thinking you don't have willpower.

Personally, I find I need to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks during the day to keep my blood sugar on an even keel. I try to eat foods that have protein that keep me sustained longer. Emotions play a huge factor in my feeling hungry as well. Tedious work days have me wanting to put whatever is in reach into my mouth as well as stressful situations. Your medications may be playing a role as well.

Hope you'll join in with us here!

Good morning and welcome to FOF. Like the others congrats on stopping smoking. Now if you find that switch just share it with the rest of us, lol. I go in spurts of that eatting all the time feeling but I think its my hormones messing with me. I don't have a solution to your problem but a few small suggestions that might help. Since you are aware that you are eatting all day and your tiered at the end of the day your food choice might be the wrong ones. Are we talking grab a cookie or two from the bag and woof it down or are we talking several almonds? Food choice I believe plays a big part in how we feel. Can you buy nuts (good fiber and good protien, I believe), put them in small baggies so they are ready to go and your portion is controled. Baby carrots fill that crunch need, place a bag into a bowl of water in your frig and when you open up that frig to grab something make them the first thing you see. Maybe cut up some celery too. Popcorn, the 94% is great and makes a healthy snack. Hard boiled eggs, by the time you peel the bad boy you have had the time to think. Drink water, walk around with a cold mug and a straw. Journel, Nancy mentioned that. With Weight Watchers that is the first thing they tell us to do. Stopping to write it down makes you think about it. Do I want this? Do I need this? Is there a better choice? Don't give up and stick around. We will help with the motivation and encouragement. Good luck its not easy.

Hello...nice to meet you! Welcome to the board! Sounds like you are experiencing what a lot of us are going through...finding it harder and harder to lose weight as we get older.

The ladies here have some great posts for you. I don't think I can add anything.

Hope you keep posting and maybe, just maybe, the board cheering you on and you being able to bounce off us will help you reach your fitness and health goals.
