Yes, winter is here in full force this morning. Not Nancy temperatures but it 13 here with a wind chill in the negative numbers. Plenty cold for around here. The slush from yesterday is frozen on the ground. Just hope my car isn't frozen in one of those slush piles and that my doors aren't frozen shut.
After all the baking this weekend I had to really put my nose to the grindstone last night and get things cleaned up around here. I'm having guests Wednesday night and desperately trying to keep myself organized. My kitchen is back in order and things that were tossed around all weekend were cleaned up and organized. My laundry chute was full beyond capacity. So the washer and dryer began their whirling and twirling. I finally sat down last night with DD and watched our annual viewing of the "Christmas Story". We love that movie.
No, Nancy I actually ate very few of the cookies I baked. When I bake that much it actually starts to turn my stomach a bit. Otto does like to hang around and see what there is to lick up off the floor. I have to say he was very well behaved the whole weekend. I only had to tell him to get down off the table once! Of course if there had been a tablecloth to pull it might have been a different story.
Today it's back to the 9 to 5 world. I really could use a day out of the kitchen doing my wrapping (which remains undone) but my vacation days are over for another year. My coworker is using up her time so she'll be out the next 2 1/2 days. The part timer was already looking for time off-not sure what was up with that. She works 9 to 2 three days a week and wanted to know if she could work 1/2 day on Wednesday. Not sure what exactly equals a 1/2 day of those hours. Curious to see if she comes in Wednesday.
I haven't cooked dinner in two nights so I guess I'll need to attend to that this evening. Whatever it is it will be quick and easy. Nancy-I'll be curious to know how your recipe turns out. Sounds like something I would like to try. DH loves General Tso's chicken.
Patty-I would think your BIL certainly wouldn't mind someone bringing something extra to the table especially since it's something your FIL would like. Men, relatives-all strange creatures!
Donna-hope you had a safe trip. Weather in the northeast was not good this weekend.
Sunflower-loved the picture of the birthday boy!
Well, better get moving. I want to get that last load of laundry out of the dryer before heading to the work place.
If I leave now I can be at Patty's house by 4:00, what time is SG coming.........got to tell you each time I read SG and Miss P's meeting up with him I think of "single guy". You know she never did actually say it was a "service guy" she spent so much time with. Curious minds want to know!
Good morning, did I mention I dislike the cold weather? Goodness I could never live midwest with those below zero temps for months on end. I complain about our 20 degree days. Well I am 9 to 5 too and wish I had the week off but I do not. Tomorrow is 9 to 3 and Wednesday I am hoping boss says go at 1:00 since I have a house to clean and company to entertain. My bathrooms have not been touched since last week and they need to be scrubbed, maybe tonight after my groceries come from Peapod or while I am waiting. I have burgers for dinner tonight and Bill and Katie are going to head off and finish some shopping later too. Should be a busy day and night at my homestead. Katie made some Chocolate Chip cookies yesterday but Bill wants sugar. I can try like heck and make a batch of dough tonight. Never enough days. I could use one more weekend, honestly.
Patty your BIL needs to take Ricks place ontop of that tree or maybe you can use Susan's shovel and well..........you know the rest. Goodness if someone offered to roast a turkey and bring it to my table I would welcome it totally. Hey you want to come to my house instead, we can drink Fat Bastard, I have an unopened bottle. My Christmas Eve normally is my house of five and my inlaws now we seemed to have grown. Bill invited our friends Dan and Pat who invited us to stay with them last year when we went to the Keys and their house in Mass a few weeks ago. Sweet people, Dan is the one who has helped Bill with our kitchen cabinets and the dry wall. They have no plans and Bill asked them to join us for dinner. Then yesterday our friend John told us he had no plans and said how he and his family were going to go out to dinner, guess where they are coming, lol. Lets not forget both girlfriends are coming too. We usually exchange with my inlaws but something tells me we might have to wait until Christmas day now. Not really a big deal but different. I bought one filet migon and had it cut into 5 steaks, now I need to get two more done. Expensive around $35.00 a roast but I should be able to get another 5 steaks out of each roast. Hey it is Christmas!
Well better run, time is a ticking. Have a good day and stay warm.
Baby, it's cold outside - 19 degrees here and so windy my son is threathening to forcibly remove my windchimes and put them someplace...
Friend of DS arrived last night and will stay for Christmas, they have converted my living room and tv into a Guitar Hero (or some such game) gaming studio.

Good morning everyone!
We got about a foot of new snow and I couldn't find Eric early this morning, and he was out shoveling.
Speaking of WW....General Tso's chicken is my favorite.
Good Monday Morning, everyone!
We made it to and from Maine in one piece.
