I've lurked on i-village off and on in the past, but decided to join last week. I could definitely use a supportive community for losing weight and exercising.
The ugly fact: I weigh 190 lbs, which is way too much for someone who is a scant 5'4". I weighed 105 in college. I don't think I should go down to that, but it really isn't healthy for me to weigh more than 140 lbs, and I really need more muscle. I am 54 and post-menopausal. (The last 20 lbs came on in the last 2 years since menopause.) My metabolism really needs shaking up.
But my job is sedentary and I really really hate to exercise. I join exercise groups and then stop going. Sometimes it's because the time is not good, other times it's because I feel self conscious about my weight and/or lack of agility.
So I am going to try to exercise at home with dvd exercises and a "step" exercise thing and so on. Any support I can get would be great.
Thanks,
Ela

Hi Ela and welcome to

Ela, hi and welcome to the board.

Thanks for the welcome. I have days when I can check in a couple of times (or more) and days when the computer and I are too busy with other things, but I will try to check in at least once a day.

Hi Ela and welcome to the board. Working out is challenging for me as well. Often times just because there's always seems to be too much to do and not enough hours in the day. I'm fortunate to have a stationary bike and a treadmill here on the homefront and lot of DVD's and so forth so when I get tired of one thing there's always something else.
We're a diverse group here and we love to talk about lots of things and it's a great group of women that are always here to help support and motivate each other through the good and the bad and the in between.
Hope you'll jump in our Spring Fitness Challenge and look forward to getting to know you better!
