Imagine my surprise when I came to the board this morning and have not seen any morning post to start our day. We have beautiful sunshine here this morning but our temps dropped last night. WHERE IS SPRING? It was a nice Easter at my house, exteremly busy but nice. Poor Bill worked until 2:45 yesterday with putting a coat of paint on the trim and bead board and then hanging the bifold doors and mounting the hardware. Nothing like last minute, into the shower he went and our company started to arrive at 3:15. I over cooked my leg of lamb and my roast beef but everyone was polite and did not say anything. I think the desserts made up for it, lol. Bill's aunt/uncle/cousin left around 6:00. Billy and Christine came after they had dinner with her family and they got to our house around 7:00. My inlaws left around 7:30 and then Stacey brother and his girl friend arrived as my inlaws were leaving. Billy and Christine headed home around 10:00 and Stacey's family stayed until after 11:;00. We had such a nice time and such good laughs. I am so glad I asked them to come. I need to ask Christine's parents next since I have not met them yet. Bill helped me do a quick clean up and we got to bed around midnight.
This morning I was dragging for sure. Bill and Katie left a little late, not a good way to start a Monday back from vacation. I never had breakfast and in a minute I am going to eat some oatmeal. My boss is in court giving me this chance to post and get organized. It is a full day for me with some errands at lunch time. Thank goodness for left overs, the lamb is going to get soaked in gravy for dinner tonight, no waste! Well that is really it from me. I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!
Going to be rude but I just got to know how much money did you spend on clothes this weekend? I have NEVER shopped like that with Bill, Katie or the boys.........NEVER!
I did not talk with Billy but I am going to. I was surprised and happy when he called last night at 6:00 to say "we" are on our way for dessert. I thought is she coming too? Yes they both came and stayed until close to 10:00 which was nice. She was thrilled and surprised with the Easter Basket I made for her. She said she did not even get one from her own parents (Stacey said the same thing, I guess I am a little over the top here). This morning Billy dropped his laundry off to use my machine for the day (he does his road tests on cars and stops home and switches his clothes in and out, lol) he said that his girl friend told him to say thank you again and that she had a nice time. It made me feel better. I still want him to know I want them around more so we can get to know her better but I want to make sure what I say comes out right. I have to do some thinking before I open my mouth. Thanks for asking!
The house is very quiet once again. I love the quiet when I'm back into my usual routine but after everyone has been here and the house is full of noise I guess I realize that I miss that family buzz and it takes a bit to get used to the quiet once again.
We had an unusual Easter as it was just us. I started off the day with making some pancakes. DD arrived around 10 and it was basically a morning of sitting around in the my pjs. We weren't going out until later in the afternoon. I think everyone was happy with the meal and then later in the afternoon we headed out to sister's house. My sister who lives in NYC was there. Her DD was supposed to be there as well but she was struck down by the stomach bug and wasn't there. Both mother and daughter will be celebrating milestone birthdays on the 18th so my sister had cakes for both of them. My sister will be 70 (although you would never know it by looking at her). My sister's 2 sons were there and my nephew's wife and their little girl Lily who will 1 next month. What a cutie! As well as my BIL's mom and sister. It was nice visiting with everyone and we had a very nice time.
This morning both DD's and I headed out to Target, Ikea and NY & Co, Michael's and Best Buy. I picked up a few things at Target including two pretty notebooks that I'm going to put together recipe books for DD of her favorites from my recipes. She's always asking me to email her this and that so I thought that would make a special shower gift for her. I also picked up 2 summer shirts and 2 pairs of pants for work in NY & Co. Love those coupons! DD wanted to stop in Michaels to pick up some wedding things and the 2 girls are working on the final touches for her wedding invitations. Younger DD works for a paper company and she will be able to get the paper and do the printing and putting together the invitations for DD. I think they will be very pretty. She's doing a inner pocket folder envelope which will be green and the invitation itself will be on a cream paper with a small decorative design in purple at the top of the invitation with a very small border of lavender around the edge. She's not sure on the lettering but will either be in a purple or in a gray with purple undertone depending on how it looks when DD runs a mock version. The inner envelope will be banded with a cream paper and then sealed with a scalloped seal with perhaps their initials. I think they'll really be very nice.
Back home and DD was anxious to get on the road back to MA. She was hoping to beat traffic and just called a few minutes ago and 40 minutes later still hadn't crossed over the NY bridge. It should take about 20 minutes. Of course that gets her onto I-95 just in time for rush hour to start building in through CT. She wasn't happy. Other DD hung around for about 1/2 hour and then decided she needed to head back to the apartment.
I have a lot of cleaning up to do around here. I hate to admit that I still have dirty dishes left over from yesterday. I started a load of wash that still needs to go into the dryer and I'm feeling very lazy and uninspired at the moment.
I'm really glad that I had today off. It was nice to have time to spend with the girls. I love both my daughters dearly but truthfully having them together can be exhausting. Their personalities have always been polar opposites as are the way they view just about everything. I think their relationship has improved since they now live 2 states away and the time they spend together is no longer constant but I still do feel like the referee at times.
Patty-sorry to hear that your Mom had the dreaded virus. Hope she's feeling better. I know my niece was feeling truly miserable yesterday.
Li-Deb-sounds like you had a really busy household there yesterday.
Nancy-glad you're enjoying time with your DD as well.
Karen-that was some shopping trip! Hope everyone enjoys their new purchases!
Well better attend to some of my domestic goddess duties and get Mr.Otto out for a much needed walk. It's a bit on the chilly side here today but at least the sun is shining and I could use a good dose of it myself!
