Cole is very smart, he goes to the back door and sits, which is great. See right now until we get the back yard completely refenced and Katie is home from school there are 2 to 3 hours where the dog is unsupervised and I can not take a chance of him having the run of the house........den, living room, dinning room, kitchen, bathroom, patio.......then there are the stairs to the bedroom........I don't want him climbing them himself. No carpet on the stairs and very slippery with his nails.
Actually Deb thank you for your opinion here. I worried about the kennel thing myself but 17 years ago when be brought Bingo home I was a SAHM not so anymore. Too many people coming and going out of my house and on different schedules. I had heard great things about using the kennel and I wanted that peace of mind while away that he was safe and not getting into trouble. After the mess I dealt with daily with Tiger I want to avoid as many messes or troubles as possible. Cole has a kennel at Billy's apartment although Billy lets him sleep on the floor at night now. But when Billy has to go out for an hour or two and is not bringing him with him he goes in the kennel. This morning Cole peed on the carpet and he knew I was mad.......I guess he understood bad boy and his nose being pushed into the pee helped but he went right into the kennel and laid down on his bed afterwards. No yelping to let him out this morning. Plus in the mornings when I have to go to work I really do not have time to watch him or play with him. I am upstairs getting done while he is downstairs. Thanks again Deb I appreciate it.

Debbie,
Not Karen but with our last two dogs we kenneled them.

Debbie (and Debbie), I have friends who swear by kenneling ... it is just convenient for us not to since someone is always here.
