Sounds like you have some of the issues that I have. I also have a hiatal hernia along with acid reflux. I was put on Protonix and is has helped although obviously still having some issues since I too went to the cardiologist for similar issues that turns out may be related to the acid reflux. One of those things where one thing can mimic another...so how are you suppose to know the difference?
I'm on Lipitor for cholesterol. I have to say I fought with the doctor for several months about going on anything. My good cholesterol has always been a good number but yet bad numbers and overall numbers kept climbing. I fortunately haven't had any side effects from the Lipitor but do have to blood work done every 6 months to make sure it's not effecting liver function. It's done and doing what it's supposed to do. I'm not thrilled about having to take it because of the possible later down the road side effects.
It really is hard to decide what the right course is for you. Good lucK!
And another rainy day is here on LI. We almost had a full day of sunshine yesterday but didn't quite make it as the gray clouds came rolling back in by afternoon along with the dampness.
I really don't know what is wrong with me. Whether it's the rain, my house being in total chaos, too many XY's in my life...whatever the reason I am a total mess. I made a huge blunder at work yesterday which fortunately for me resolved itself but not without my stomach being in my throat about the potential disaster that it could have been. It was simply because of a simple step that I do each time that for whatever reason I just forgot to do.The really sad part was I didn't realize it until the disaster was about to happen. All day long it was just one thing after another of things that I had forgotten to do. I'm hoping that at least by being off next week I can put my house back in order, get it really cleaned and back in order, have at least a day or two to regain some mental health and get myself back in order. Right now, to quote LI-Deb-stick a fork in me I'm done although I'm beginning to think I'm burned to a crisp!
My SIL had her surgery yesterday to remove the lymph node. Fortunately there wasn't anything in the lymph nodes and the situation is still in a precancerous state. They removed one other nodule and that was benign. She goes back to the surgeon on Monday and DH's other sister is going to go in to talk with the surgeon with her sister and going to insist on a referral to another oncologist. As of right now treatment isn't supposed to start for another month. I think she's hoping that if the start date is right before the wedding that she can wait a week before the wedding so she doesn't have to think about it and can enjoy the wedding.
Just to add to the mixture two of my sisters apparently had words over something absolutely stupid. My older sister had called me the other night in a bit of a panic because she had misplaced the shower invitation and couldn't remember whether she had responded and she also had a question about the wishing well. I told her that I would double check on her response and answered her other question. Apparently she relayed the wishing well information to our other sister and she apparently blew up at her and told her that it was inappropriate for her to have called me since I'm the mother of the bride. Don't get that one at all Then proceeded to tell my sister that her daughter wasn't very nice at her son's birthday party. Of course I'm only hearing one side of the story, but it really doesn't surprise me. My sister can be a bit snippy at times especially when she's got things going on. I know she's in the middle of a bathroom redo but really....what did it hurt to call me and how was I supposed to be offended? So I got an apology call from my sister for offending me! I assured her that there was no reason for me to be offended and that I would have done the same thing. Family members almost as much a mystery of life as XY's!
My XY's played with electricity last night by swapping DS ceiling fan. No punches thrown, no bad words used! After my day yesterday I was convinced that I was taking the night by doing nothing but reading and watching useless tv but instead I was upstairs peeling posters and tape off of walls. I realized that this room ain't happening until that stuff is down. Let me just say those posters were up real well!
DH has a union meeting tonight so he'll be in an of here. We'll have to double check on the weather conditions before heading out with the beast. Hopefully things at work today will go smoothly and without me forgetting to do something!
Thankful and very grateful to the court reporting agency that bailed me out of a very difficult situation yesterday! Thankful that SIL's surgery went well. Thankful for my job and that I still have one! Thankful for a fixed hole in the wall! Thankful that the XY's played nice last night. Thankful for grass and weeds that have been leveled to less jungle looking appearance. Thankful that I live so close to work!
Nancy-safe travels. Hope you have a wonderful getaway! Margie-glad to hear that everything is up and running again! Donna-sounds like a wonderful birthday celebration planned for your niece! Hope you enjoy your time off! Grace-grandbaby yet?
Running late and CRS is causing turmoil in my brain yet again. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Sorry about the hernia Nancy, but glad you know what it is and it isn't your heart. I have been on Zocor and Crestor...horrible side effects on both (fatigue, stomach issues, memory loss, leg pains, and some memory loss). I will not take a statin again. Also tried Welchol and it caused diverticulitis and an allergic reaction. So, I am on nothing and just try to follow a healthy lifestyle. My numbers are bad...400 total cholesterol but HDL's are ok and as well as triglycerides and my doctor said just do the best I can since it is better to live a good lifestyle than take a pill that there is no proof that I won't have another heart attack. OF course my cardiologist is not happy but he is deferring to my internist since he knows me more than he does.
So...that is what my story is. I know the medicine works (my cholesterol went down to under 200 on it) but I could not live with those side effects. My DH and both DSs too. The biggest thing that scared me was the 30% increase in getting cancer and when I was on Crestor, they found that tumor with low grade dysplasia on my appendix. Oh...my liver function went a little crazy too.
