I remember the day all too well and sitting and waiting to hear where DD was as she was living two blocks from the Trade Center. It was several hours before we heard that she was safe and several days before she could get from NYC to LI. And I always think of how fortunate we were to have good news where so many are still living with the tragedy of the day.
9/11 is also a special day since DH and I celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. Looking back over the years it's hard to believe that 33years could possibly have passed that quickly.
Rhonda-thinking of your Dad and all of you. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Margie-I wanted to thank you for your post yesterday. You expressed many of the thoughts that have been running through my head. I also want to check out that book. I'm not buying book much anymore but I do have a 30% coupon so I may check it out. Hope you enjoyed your special time with Brock.
The rain they've been talking about for the past few days has arrived. It's rainy and windy and would be a perfect day to spend at home but unfortunately that won't happen.
On that note, I'd better get doing what needs to be done around here before the 9 to 5 starts.
Thank you for having so much wisdom, emotion, and caring wrapped up in that petite little body of yours. I remember being on the computer and thinking the pictures were trailers for a new movie like Independence Day and having Erin ask me if I had the TV on. When I said no, she said I'd better turn it on. I was just stunned.
Getting ready for work, but wanted to drop by to say thanks again for the cards and good wishes. Dad is doing a little better, but is still considered semi-critical. He's running a fever and has a terrible cough with the double pneumonia. We met with the hospice lady on my birthday and know what our options are. Thankfully, we feel this is not terminal even though it could be.
We went to a bbq place for lunch across the street from the hospital where Cheryl discovered the 1 carat + diamond from her engagement ring was missing!!! I have nightmares about things like that. One of the prongs was bent. Thankfully, it is insured. Mine isn't, so I called my agent yesterday to see what it would cost and have to get it appraised. I could never afford to replace mine. We had birthday cake in the hospital cafeteria.
That night Pat took me to dinner at Clark's Fish Camp. We have a good picture by one of the taxidermied tigers there that I'll try to download sometime soon. The tiger is so photogenic!! LOL! They don't have fried grouper anymore, which was a disappointment, but I managed on steamed shrimp. We saw 2 little gators in the creek while we were waiting.
Yesterday, was a fun day. Cheryl and I met at the Town Center and I got to use my Chico's gift certificates from her, Lauren, Rob, and Anna. Also, Cheryl had given me a beautiful tee from there. I got 3 nice tops using 2 different kinds of discounts. We had a good lunch at Mimi's Cafe, then I took her to the store where I work and introduced her to all who were there. They think we look alike.
She went on to the hospital, while I picked up my cake for last night, met Pat at the club to put it in the fridge, went downtown to get some papers from an attorney for the case against the "world" by my nutty ex-SIL, ran 3 other errands, then went to Pat's to watch a little TV, iron, and change clothes for the dance last night.
Mom and Cheryl came and we had a good time. The cake provided slices for about 40+ of the 70-some people there. Everyone thought it was really good. It was 2 AM before I got finished doing all I needed to do and I started waking up at 5-something this morning. Not sure why. I should have been tired.
Better get a move on, so I'm not late. Happy Anniversary, Susan!!
