Time to let us all know how your day was...

Rainy, feeling fallish, and a good day for movies, books and comfort foods, or is summer still hanging around your neighborhood?

Anybody cooking today?

I never did a post this morning the day kind of got away from me. Katie had her last session at Huntington Learning Center at 9 this morning so I got up at 8, threw on some sweat pants, had a quick cup of tea and out the door we went. Came home and made myself some oatmeal and another cup of tea and watched some TV. Did a batch of laundry, made my bed and then it was time to go back out and pick Katie up. We stopped off at Town Hall where they hold a farmers market on Saturday morning but everything was picked over. So we came home, Katie ate some left overs from last nights dinner while I did yet another batch of laundry and then went down to the basement and pulled out my 3 bins of "fall stuff". I then gathered all my summer/beachy stuff and put them into the livingroom, washed the blue & yellow table cloth and then took down the blue lace curtains and washed them too. I took the miniblinds down (3 windows) and washed them really good ( I don't remember the last time I washed them, not sure in 7 years if I ever have..........bad, very bad), washed the windows, washed down the walls, ironed my fall table cloth, hung the white full length curtains, played with Cole. At some point the washer/dryer were switched again and I made a run to the bank to cash a check. Stacey and Katie had taken a ride in the afternoon out east so the house was quiet and I was very productive. After the girls came back we played a game of Monopoly and relaxed in the den watching TV. Stacey went home, Cole went home, Katie and I had Chineese food for dinner a quick clean up, brought the cat into the back patio, fresh food for her and well here it is almost 9 and I am really ready to head upstairs and go to bed. Actually the house is locked up and cleaned up and Katie is already upstairs. I am going to head up there in a minute and I will do a little reading. I think the lights will be out by 9:30 which is good because I want to get up fairly early tomorrow. Our weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow, today was over cast and it is raining now. Hope you all had a wonderful day and I will check back in the morning. Have a sweet night ladies!

After my afternoon post I sat and finished my book and then down to the basement to clean out the small room that houses our gas and water meter and a whole lot of "stuff". One word to describe it-disgusting. As with a lot of LI houses there is a lot of moisture in the basement. The concrete has this stuff flaking off and with all the temperature changes and humdity in the summer I pulled out cardboard boxes that were full of this nasty stuff and beginning signs of mold. Those boxes went immediately into black trash bags and out the back door. The hamster cage went, an old lighting fixture from the bathroom we redid-not sure why that was in there-but then again I don't have a lot of explanations for any of what's laying around here. An old fish tank with the gravel still in it-out of there. My original luggage-the outside full of some funky looking white stuff, out in the yard for Wednesday pick up. There were a few salvagable Fisher Price toys that I cleaned up and I'll give those to my coworker. I started trying to move things around and finally unearthed the treadmill. Not looking too good either. I have to ask DS if he thinks it's time to get rid of it. It's not calibrated right anymore and the deck is just looking really shabby. I bought it used and it really doesn't owe me a dime. I'm going to feel really bad if I decide to get rid of it since I know I don't have the $ to replace it. I'll wait to talk to DS and get his opinion. I guess first I just better see if it still runs. There are still a ton of boxes that DD needs to go through and bins that I'm afraid to open and looks like I didn't accomplish a thing. Just better organized piles. But several more boxes and stuff to throw out and a few more things for my coworker's fundraising sale. I was frustrated, filthy and tired by the time I was done. Several loads of laundry done but still sitting in laundry baskets waiting for homes.

By 4:45 I still had no clue what to cook so I ended up making a Lumberman's Hash which is made with frozen shredded potatoes and some leftover ham I had in the refrigerator.

It was raining lightly after dinner but Otto and I headed out for a walk. Not very pleasant walking conditions but we both needed it!

Definitely time for a shower after the walk and I've been hanging out planning menus for next week and watching some HGTV.

Hope you've all had a great day.
