It was a busy day in the office although the day just seemed to drag on. My boss negotiated a very nice settlement on his case with our client very happy and my boss very happy since his legal fee will be paid. We were treated to a building fire drill this morning. Although we had been forewarned there's really no preparation for when the strobe light and ear piercing alarm goes off.
Dinner put together with turkey burgers on the grill. There's some nights where the simplest of dinners always taste the best.
Otto and I headed out after dinner for our walk. Otto was in a brisk walking mode which surprised me a bit since the weather is rather warm and humid.
The last of the kitchen clean up is done, laundry has been whirled and is now being twirled. I've done a bit of reading and although it's just past 8PM here I've taken my shower and am already in my pjs.
Exercise still is not happening around here but I did trade in my bowl of vanilla ice cream for an apple this evening and fortunately the office supply of fun size 3 Musketeers had been finished off.
DH is downstairs trying to figure out the moldings and I'm steering clear. It certainly doesn't sound like it's going very well. Like I've already said I should have known better and one of these days I will listen to one of the little voices in my head that tell me not to open my mouth.
That's about it from this part of LI. Hope you've all had a good day!
Never made it back to actually do a Thursday Thankful today.............left for the office and got really busy. My thankfuls are my family, my slow weight loss, my home, our pets, my health (don't count this week). I got into the office around 9:15 and stayed until 2:45. Stayed longer then I really wanted to but I tried really hard to fix a problem with a file but luck was on on my side. I met the boss man outside as I was leaving and told him he was going to have to work on it to get it to close, I used all my resources........very dissappointing. Katie was in already doing her homework and the house was quiet. No sign of the roofer yet (although hubby did already pay the man $10 thousand out of the $15 thousand we owe him). He was supposed to get started weeks ago. (Getting off my soap box now). Still no sign of the pool guy either. I have a nice pool full of green water, half a filter, all the electric ready to rock and roll but the rest of the filter is not here yet nor is the pool guy to finish the connections. Very agrivating and fustrating. Bill came home around 3:30 grabbed his shower then headed over to his friend Johns house. Rob packed his bag before heading off to class this morning and was meeting them right there from school. Last I spoke the boys they did not leave NY until close to 5 and were sitting in traffic on the NJ turnpike. I drove Katie to the barn where she met up with her friend Jessica to ride and clean the horses. I came home and took a 45 minute nap! Did some laundry, put laundry away, emptied the dishwasher and ran to the store for a few items. I then picked up Katie, we had raviolis (not Jenny) and they were so yummy! Now after I finish here i will clean up the kitchen dishes and then take my nighttime cold medicine and head upstairs to the AC. Our weather has been warm but I hear it is supposed to drop over the weekend. Boys will be gone to Maryland until late on Sunday night, Katie has a horse show on Sunday morning and I am going to chill! I woke up from my nap thinking about my polish grandmother and her stuffed cabbage. I asked my mom about it and I googled it and watched some recipes done on video so I am going to pick up stuff tomorrow and try to make it on Saturday. My mom is going to CT to babysit for my sis & BIL so I invited my dad over for dinner on Saturday to be my ginea pig........lol. That is about it........if anyone of you ladies has made stuffed cabbage and would like to share please do. Hope you all have a wonderful night and I will see you all in the morning. I am off tomorrow by the way! Yippie!
Nancy pigs in a blanket are hot dogs rolled up in crescent type rolls and baked. Done as an appetizer. I am talking about steaming the cabbage and putting a meat/rice mixture in them then cooked slowly for an hour or more with tomato sauce.
Nancy this afternoon I mentioned to my MIL that I planned on making stuffed cabbage tomorrow and her reply "Oh pigs in a blanket". I was like what did you say??? She said they used to call stuffed cabbage pigs in a blanket when she was a young girl growing up so I guess you are completely correct and I learned something new today!
Pigs in a blanket = hot dogs wraped in crescent rolls
vs
Pigs in a blanket = hamburger, rice and seasonings stuffed into cabbage leaves and simmered in tomatoes
As far as I am concerned, depending on my mood, they are a very even match.

My grandmother was from Poland but she made them the same way you described. Meat mixture with rice rolled up into the cabbage leaf topped off with tomato sauce and I just finished making it. I have mine in the crock pot right now with the tomato sauce ontop. I figure instead of worrying and cooking them on a slow simmer on the stove for two hours I put them in the crock pot on low. I just finished and I know we won't eat until 6 so they should be cooked by then. I can test one around 4:30 and if they are not finished I can turn the crock pot up to high for an hour.

Went to Centergy today after work, and the instructor put on some old stuff and mixed it up a bit.

It's a regional thing...
