Nancy they turned out great and were not really that hard to make. Probley took me about 1 hour and 15 minutes to put together. Now that I have made them I will do it again. Not a "healthy" meal as far as calories but still a hardy meal for a good cold night. I made the mixture which was the three part chop meat (beef/pork/veal) that I get from our local butcher so I know its a good combo (lower in fat then what I would buy in the grocery store). The meat was about 2 pounds and to that I added parsley, garlic powder, 2 eggs, about 1 1/2 cups of white rice, seperately I sauted a large onion (in a half a stick of butter) then added the onions to the meat and mushed it with my hands. In a large pot I put the head of cabbage which I cored and as it steamed/cooked in the pot the leave began to peel off. I scooped them out and ran them under cold water. I would say the cabbage head was fairly large and it allowed for about 18 good size leaves to use for rolling. I chopped up the remainer of the cabbage and put some of it on the bottom of the crock pot container then I cut out the vein our of the leaves and then scooped some mixture in the center and rolled them up. I put them seamed side down in the crock pot then ontop I put some half a can of diced tomatoes and half a can of crushed tomatoes. I put more of the chopped up cabbage ontop of that and then another layer of the cabbage rolls. After the rolls were done I put the rest of the diced tomatoes and the crushed tomatoes, and put the crock pot on high for about 1 1/2 hours. Since I only finished putting it together around 1:15 I wanted to make sure they cooked. I then turned the crock pot down to low and went out for a couple of hours to finishe my errands. I stopped and bought a fresh load of Semolina bread at the bakery. We had a tossed salad, I cooked some spagetti (because I was not sure if we were going to like them, lol and I wanted a back up) and then stuffed cabbage. My dad, Katie and I loved them. We each had two cabbage rolls with a little bit of pasta on the side. I put a few aside for my dad to take home so him and my mom can enjoy them. I have two for my MIL & FIL to try and some for Bill to have for dinner one night this week. I know we discussed the different things to put into the crockpot and this worked great. Although it was a bit of prep involved it was something I might do again on a Saturday morning or Sunday morning so I can go out later and still come home to a hot meal.
