It's a rainy day here on LI. We haven't had any rain for awhile so it's probably a good thing. Sometimes I like a rainy Sunday.
Loved your message this morning Miss P. Yes, there are things that I have abandonded. I know part of it is lack of time but I think my patience is not what it used to be either. Actually it was a topic of conversation at therapy last session that I need to find something that I do just for myself.
Grocery shopping is on the agenda this morning although it would be a much nicer just to stay inside. A much needed manicure is also on the agenda. DD and SIL are coming for dinner and I have a roast beef to throw in the oven. DS birthday is tomorrow so it will be an early birthday celebration. I also made sure I ordered his Fudgie the Whale cake from Carvel. It's always his only request-he loves that cake!
I spent a very frustrating day around here yesterday. I did manage to get the bathrooms scrubbed but other than that I was all over the place with projects and I didn't really accomplish anything. Our bedroom is an ongoing project with me. I really detest that room. I've been trying to figure out a way to get another dresser in the room for me since DH occupies two of the three big drawers. I moved my vanity out but knew that putting another piece of furniture in there was still going to make the room look cluttered. I ended up keeping the vanity out. Where it's going to go I have no idea. It was my Mom's and it's not something that can be put at the curb. Originally it was supposed to go to younger DD but it's not her taste or something she would use. My sister actually gave it to me so I might have to see if she wants it back or see if older DD would eventually want it. Too much furniture for too small a space! Anyway, I rearranged a few things so DH actually has a little reading spot. The chair that is in there is an old Mission type rocker that isn't in very good shape. DH bought it when he was in the Air Force and stationed in New Mexico. My sister knows a gentleman that could fix it up and recover it. I've been thinking about doing it as a gift for him for several years. The problem is he too often uses the chair to house tools and clothes so I'm not sure the money will be spent wisely. Although if the chair were a little more comfortable maybe he would actually use it. Something I'm still considering. The day was further complicated by the fact that he had been rummaging through the garbage boxes once again. I'm not sure he did it because it thought the stuff was supposed to recycled but in any event I have to do some more undercover garbage removal. Why must it be like this? I feel like I'm treading water around here. Valuable weekend time and nothing much to show for it.
Time to get the day moving along. Hope you all have a super Sunday!
Patty on the WW thing it is a good thing to learn but they have more then one plan to work with. Their Core program allows you to enjoy foods without counting the calories you just need to eat the right foods. Give that a serious looking at and consideration. I found I did pretty good with Core.
Your GPS comment was very funny. I never thought about using one to help find my body's direction. I need a crane and fork lift to move mine! Enjoy your decluttering, it is always a good feeling to me when I take on that kind of project and I am successful!
Susan I can understand your fustrations with the small rooms and trying to declutter. Does it make you want to call HGTV and yell HELP! I grew up in a small capecod style house, it was 2 bedrooms and 1 bath then my dad finished off half the attic and turned it into another bedroom but its a tiny house. I think this is why I crave larger rooms today, lol and hate clutter. You are fighting a daily uphill battle with your husband and that must wear on you after a while. Can you turn the other bedroom down stairs into a guest room / Susan room with a place for your dressing table? I know my mom ended up doing that once we all moved out. My mom moved my dads hanging/closet stuff into the spare room because the closets are are so tiny in that house. I hope you get to enjoy this rainy day we have by relaxing a little before the work week begins again.
Nancy your wedding sounded really nice and fun! Hope you get to enjoy your day with your parents and your Sunday night pizza night with your friends. Sounds like you guys have a pretty big circle of friends that keep you busy and company! Enjoy the sun and nice weather while you can.
Karen if must be difficult to put up with your MIL if she is half of what you describe you deserve an award. Like who is she trying to impress the moose in Wyoming??? Did you mention that most of your wardrobe does not get purchased from Walmart rather from Cold Water Creek and Lands End........that stuff aint cheap, lol. When they stay with you do you have a guest room for them or do they take over the living room or family room. I am thinking maybe a tent in your back yard might work too. How long do you have to put up with her? Why does your husband put up with her? Is his dad just as bad? Unfortunatly it is your husband that needs to take the bull by the horns you can say and stop the maddness. Thank goodness the visits are far and few between. When does she leave for Italy? They are going to the wedding you talked about a few months ago that they instisted your husband pay for, right? Or did that pass already? Good luck and I hope you get some quiet moments and the rest of the visit is uneventful.
Can't say goodmorning anymore so I will have to say good afternoon instead. Got up at 5 to pouring rain and the sound of thunder in the distance. Katie and I decided not to take a chance so she texted her trainer and said no show. Later she let Nicole know about her decision and Nicole told her she was proud of Katie making a smart choice by not putting Ammy into a bad situation. So based upon that I am sure she will allow Katie to do another show without her. We rolled over and went back to sleep until 9:00. Katie actually was up before me and made me a cup of tea. It has been a lazy morning with some fresh blueberry pancakes and a second cup of tea this morning. I have the washer and dryer going and I am going to head upstairs in a minute to make my bed and take a shower. Billy just stopped by with the dog to pick up his air mattress that I borrowed when my GF were visiting. He is having friends and Christines sisters over to watch a football game (so not my son never watched or played football ever) and if the weather is bad they will have Christine's sisters stay the night. (Now I need to vent here, this is what bothers me so much. He does nothing with us anymore, it is like pulling teeth to get him to be here and do things with us. No interest in going racing with his dad, no interest in finishing or working on his race car that my husband has dumped alot of money and time into. Yesterday was beatiful so he went out to the east end of LI with her and did the wine tour thing which is sweet but he does not drink wine. Where did my son's b*lls go? Him and I had words
