I'd like to get my life under control again. I'm still searching for what I should be doing and would like to get out and do more things on my own for myself and get back in shape.

I'm Judy, 46 from Central New York

Short-term goal is to lose 10 pounds or reduce 1 clothing size.

A specific task that will help with that goal is to set up times with the ladies at work for walking.

This year, I'm continuing to re-focus my energies on activities that are self-regarding. I'm saying 'no' more to my daughter. That way I don't feel like I'm giving something up I really need (like workout time) in order to help her and then end up feeling resentful.

One thing I need to do is to work on a health-care proxy. I printed it out and DH and I will read it over and work on it. This way, there won't be any question as to who makes decisions for me in case I am unable.

I have other goals, but those will be the major ones I'll be working on.

And, welcome to the board, Shanna!

Hi Girls!

My name is Kathy and I'm 57 years young. :) I live in Vancouver, WA with my husband of 39 years. We have two children and four grandchildren that live in our town. They are all the joys of my life!

My biggest goal for my life in this new year is to become healthier. My body is starting to feel the effects of carrying around 50 extra pounds. Things hurt that never used to hurt......and that sucks! I would just like to feel better. We own a nice treadmill so I'm going to be more consistent in using it and will make a real effort to eat better and healthier. Gotta get that cholesterol and those triglycerides down!!!!

Good luck, strong effort, and joy to all of us in this New Year!

Susan,Long Island, NY age 54. Married almost 32 years, 3 kids (DD 28, DD 26,DS 22) and our loveable but sometimes a bit crazy 12 year old beagle named Otto. Oldest dd recently became engaged and a summer 2009 wedding is being planned (if I don't go screaming into the night before then)!

Consistency in my workouts and healthy eating, maintaining my weight and keeping my bp numbers and cholesterol numbers in control.

Taking care of myself mentally, physically and spiritually, getting rid of the household clutter, learning to let go of some resentment that I've allowed to build up inside are all things that I would like to work towards achieving in the New Year.
