Hi Everyone.
I'm 29, and about 6.5 months shy of 30, but figured, my body is pretty much 30, so I'd better join this board versus the tight bods of the 20's. lol. Anyhow. I've lost a lot of weight since 1999, but I need to lose the final pounds. About 20-30lbs left. I want to lose about 15-20 before I go to Hawaii in 10 weeks (doable, the healthy way), and yet, I have no motivation. I think that's the hardest part. Motivation to hit the gym. Or anything.
BF and I said we were going to start running (I hate running) next week after the time change, so we'll see what happens there. If he runs with me, he'll be walking REALLY fast, and I feel like a loser! But, oh well, at least I'm out there. I always tell him. You're a Siberian Husky, built for speed and running long distances. I am an Alaskan Malamute, built for the long-haul and pulling. lol If you don't know the breeds, nevermind. =)
Anyhow. I am here. I will try to do what I can. I need to get motivated. I need people to BUG me about going to the gym, so I'll feel guilty AND GO. Or lie about it. ;) Either way,

Welcome cherbear!!
I agree with you about exercising for 60 minutes straight. I may split 60 minutes into a couple of activities like cardio, then weights or strength exercises. But I get bored very easily with one activity for that long. Also, I only have about an hour every day for exercise, so it's more time efficient to break it up to focus on different areas.
Welcome aboard!
Ruby
ps Your dog is really pretty!
Hi Paula!!
Okay. Did NOT even think about the pictures. That right there motivated me. Just a tad. lol. I should put a pic from last year of me in my bathing suit where I can see it. It will either motivate me or depress me. lol.
It's weird, because the Hawaiian women are large there, I don't mind my weight so much when I'm there, but I would NEVER go to a SoCal beach. Heck no. lol.
Okay. Need to write that. Do NOT forget about what the pics will look like. And okay. I'm off to the gym (tomorrow =p).

Hi IG.
I'll be going for a week. I'm spending it with my cousin, so no hotel fee to pay. My bf will be joining me the latter half of the week, so this should be TONS of fun.
Since I have family there, I go all the time. Only up until the past few years, have I been going every year to see my cousin. Before that, it was about every other year since I was a kid. You can do the math. =) It's my home away from home. I love it there, but could never live there (island fever, y'know!)
And I think this journey of the last few lbs will be a hard one, but if I get there, wait, WHEN I get there, it will be
Hi Steffy.
Yup, I'm over at GT. I just love that board. They crack me up. So many with such adamant views and yet, mostly a great group of ppl and direct to the point advice. THAT I like. lol.
And okay. I konw ppl get jealous about me going to HI. lol. To me, it's just a place to visit, like Vegas, no biggie. But, I can relate. I'd really like to see the east coast. The farthest I've been is Arizona. lol. We all have our "I wanna go to ______________" places.
Move something? I think I will get up and move my okole (hawaiian for butt). I need to do a few things.

Hi Ruby. Thanks for the welcome. I think between journaling my food and money expenses (trying to watch my money), I am going to go nuts. On a good note, I have done WW before, and have that calculator thingy, so that will help me with portion control again, and eating healthier.

I know all about that island fever thing, but you actually get used to it, somehow! I live in the Virgin Islands, and get off 'the rock' about once a year. I usually go to Ireland, where I grew up and my parents still live, in the summer, but this year I have decided to take a "vacation" and am going to Austin, TX to visit some friends. I'm looking forward to visiting somewhere new!
I've never been to HI, but it looks beautiful. It's just such a l-o-n-g ways a way from here! I'm sure you know lots of folks there, having gone there since you were a child. It will be nice to you to see everyone again I'm sure.

You are so lucky to have a tropical place to visit. Not having to pay for a hotel is great!! I think that is the most expensive part of a trip, isn't it?? There is nothing like planning a trip to get your butt moving and get you motivated to loose that extra weight!! Especially if the trip requires a bathing suit. LOL
Maybe our next challenge will be just what you need!!
