yes i do change my workouts when the hotter weather comes along. when spring rolls in and stays in i like to be outside as much as possible. once we get the pool opened up, i like to swim. sometimes i tell myself that i will join a swimming program at the arena, but i never have doen it yet.
now once the humidity level sets in and one can hardly breathe outside, then i flip on the old A/C and hide inside! LOL
Well, we WERE having beautiful Springtime weather, but recently got hit with rain and cold weather again. I don't think I really change workouts...I sometimes walk outside when the weather is nice, and I plan on using my rollerblades more this Spring. I would say Spring is my favorite time of year. Fall is nice, but it reminds me that holidays are coming soon, which isn't exactly a good feeling in my line of work. But Spring means pretty clothes, sandals, my flowers are blooming and I don't have to freeze all the time.
I do tend to change my workouts with the seasons; It doesn't really get very "cold" per se here in SC, but the wind can make it seem VERY cold and I hate to walk with the wind blowing in my face when it feels like ice! I love the fall, the smell of it reminds me that colder days are coming and aside from not being able to work out outside, I love the cold weather. (as long as I don't have to be out in it!) I generally work out on my elliptical or do a tape when the weather is yucky, including when it gets too hot to be outside. I love to swim, too, but only if the weather is warm or tepid. I hate climbing into cold water. No FUN!
Sylvieq69, if you don't mind my asking, what line of work are you in? You said the holidays were hard in your line of work and it's got me curious!
Paula, how long do you swim for when you go? I'm going to start doing it, instead of walking. I used to swim a couple of years ago almost every day (I lived in a house with a pool) and managed to swim for about 20 minutes. Just wondering how long you swim for and what style?
I can totally agree with the a/c blasting when the humidity gets up there!
Sylvie do you enjoy roller-blading? I never mastered roller skates, so can only imagine how awful I'd be on blades, lol! But I do have to admit that it really does look enjoyable! Hope your spring weather returns soon ;-)
Jenn- you just reminded me of walking in Ireland "I hate to walk with the wind blowing in my face" that was one of the feelings I used to LOVE when walking around the harbor where I grew up. I'd come home from my walk and my face would literally be purple, lol- but it felt so good! After living here (in the VI for 10 years) I've become a baby about getting into cold water- during the winter months (temp around 78F,lol) I won't even go near the ocean! I know, I know....I'm too spoiled!
My workout changes because as soon as it is at least 50 degrees when i wake up in the am i will incorporate running outside in my workout and i am looking for a walking partner for in the evenings that i lift weights in the a.m.
i am in the south where the humidity alone can make you sweat just stepping outside so i love the Spring when the high is about 75 but below 80. :)
i usually spend about 30 minutes in the pool. i do a couple of things...even though our pool is round i still do "laps". i just go back and forth changing swimming styles every few minutes. our pool is 27' round but you can still get quite a few good strokes in before reching the other side.
the best workout i get is doing the old kid thing.....get a whirlpool going! LOL i'll jog around the pool until i can really feel the water starting to push me. man it is really tiring for the legs. i like the fact that i know my heart rate is up but it just doesn't seem as tiring for soem reason.
my girlfriend used to go to aquabics and she showed be a few exercises that they used to do....she did the shallow water ones.
