Rewards???

Having reached the halfway point in my weight loss and lifestyle change goals, I have gone out and rewarded myself with new ink. I got a new tattoo Saturday. It is a tribal art butterfly high on my left shoulder blade. I will get more done as the weight continues to be shed.

What do you girls like to do for rewards? I feel like buying new clothes isn't really a reward because you need new clothes when you shrink. Neccessity is not rewarding.

I think that going to a day spa, or a night out with just myself and a good book at a local hotel and room service is a good reward. And the tattoo is a permanent reminder of the wonderful effort I have made. My final goal weight (not sure what that is yet: a ball park of 135-145 lbs) reward will be re-piercing my belly button.

I try to lose weight in 5 lb increments so I do not get discouraged. So I do not reward myself every 5 lbs. Maybe every 10 lbs. It takes me forever to lose 10 lbs.

Well, I just thought I'd ask how you all reward yourselves, I could use a few more great ideas, and I know you gals have em'

I love the idea of a tatoo. That is what I would like to do when I finally reach my goal. I am leaning toward a chinese symbol for strength or vitality or a dragon fly. There is a beautiful story someone told me about a dragon fly. It starts out as a beetle in the bottom of a pond. It climbs its way out of the mud and follows a blade of grass to the surface where it learns to breath. The sun burns off its hard shell and out pops its wings. The dragon fly has evolved and can never go back to living in the water. This woman that told the story made reference to the dragon fly because of the changes it goes through and that is what happens to us as we lose weight. We change and evolve into better, healthier, stronger women and we can never go back to the old way we lived. We leave the bad habbits behind, in the bottom of the pond.

Wow, popular theme here. I am going for the tattoo also. 7 more pounds!! Although I am halfway tempted to wait and get one when my dad comes in Oct...but wait....ooohhh. He's coming for my bday so maybe I will just get another one!! Oh yeah, I think that is what I will do!! So, one here soon for my mini halfway goal and then another in Oct. My overall goal weight is only 1.76 pounds per week away and then viola!! I will be content....FINALLY!

Actually, as someone with a lot of tattoos, I have to agree that the tattoo is a good reward! I have a bunch of butterflies on my back and when I get close to my goal, I hope to add another one or two (if I can afford it).

On the other hand, I may get my navel re-pierced - I took out the ring when I got pregnant with Sam and never put one back in. I hesitate to do that, though, since we plan to have another baby in the near future.

I think a day spa is also a nice idea - a massage to reach all those happy muscles!

Congrats!

Kim,

I love dragonflys. They are all over my home, and they are my personal token. I would have gotten a dragonfly Saturday except I have a tattoo budget, and couldn't pay $275.00 for the one I want. My DH has worked out a trade for services though, so next time I get the one I want free. Hubby is going to build benches for artists backyard Japanese garden and we are giving him a Japanese maple and a palm tree of some sort. I love having a handy hubby. I think women look beautiful with the right work done.

OK!! WHO DID I TELL MY IDEA TO?? LMAO!! I am getting a dragon fly tattoo!! Aside from that beautiful story just told (which makes it all the more meaningful), a dragonfly, in Japan, repersents... aww here, I'll paste it!! It's going to mean so much to me. And I already have the one picked out.

The Meaning of the Dragonfly

The dragonfly has a beautiful, jewel-like coloring. The bright colors take time to develop, reflecting the idea that with maturity, our own true colors come forth. Structures in their shells scatter and refract light, making them look iridescent green and blue. This ability to reflect and refract light and color has caused them to associated with magic and mysticism. Dragonfly's magic is the power of light and all that has ever been associated with it. In Japan, dragonflies represent new light and joy. Dragonflies remind us that we are light and can reflect the light in powerful ways if we choose to do so. Life is never quite the way it appears, but is always filled with light and color. The dragonfly reminds us to "Let our light shine forth." She brings us the brightness of transformation and the wonder of colorful new vision.

Can I paste it?? Guess not. If anyone wants to see, I'll e-mail it... It's AWESOME!!

Can you see the fit 30's finally meeting one another in a tattoo/piercing parlor??? How funny would that be? Pullin' up on our bikes, raising he$$, ready for needles (oops..off on a tangent there). They should call us the "Rowdy 30's"! Too bad we can't actually get together for all these fun things!!

You guys crack me up. My REWARD for getting out of my marriage was my tattoo. It goes around my ankle and has some cool meanings. I was thinking about getting some turtles at the small of my back, but bf doesn't want me to, so, I have to seriously think about that one. He doens't want me to get anymore.

So, my reward when I hit my final goal is to get my naval pierced. Something I"ve always wanted to do cuz I had a flat nice stomach. =) And well, bf would love it, so he's all for it. But otherwise, I have no "rewards". I'm so bad, cuz I'll just reward myself regardless if I get there.

Love the dragonfly bit for everyone here thinking about one. =)

What is this about tatoos??? Do I have to seriously start thinking about one for myself? I have given it *some* thought, but not much....but maybe it's to be our theme!

Other things I do are: manicure, food treats (yep...you read right!), massage, and I've even done the hotel for the night reward too!
