i'm curious about what everyone on this board does to get in shape. i'd like to get some ideas. (i need to work on getting in shape too but haven't made the commitment to myself yet).

soooo.......

1. what form of exercise (i.e. yoga, exercise machine, swimming, etc.) do you practice?

2. how many days a week do you exercise?

3. how long do you exercise?

4. what time of the day do you exercise?

Karen- it's great to have you with us, and yes, we will be keeping tabs on you and your exercise if you're going to be sticking around!

Have a look at the 'check in' folder and see what week 3 of our challenge is all about. You said that you have a bike, well this is 'Spin Around' week, so get that helmet on and hit the road!!

As for my regime...hummm, well I'm slowly getting back to one. The last couple of weeks for me have been hectic, I'm a school teacher and just got my holidays, so I've no excuses about time, stress, meetings, etc...for the moment!!

Hey,

This is what I chose to do in order to fit in faster:

This is what I do first:

>> it takes me about 8 traffic lights stops to get to work. Sometimes, esp' in the mornings, it takes double (I have to wait twice). So - it is 8 LOST MINUTES in which I do my buttocks and abdomenal exercises. "hold, and release". (I also imagin my fat running out of my swimming suit when I'll go with my son to the pool...it always helps).

I think you can do so also on the bus/s-way...

Anyway, I can see the results clearly, after 1 month of 16" per day doing it. went (plus diet) from 16 to 12!

Second >> I work on the 10th floor. I go up and down at least twice a day. Sometimes I stop to rest on the 5-6-7 ;-)but I never take the elevator while getting lazy...

Hope it would help you get started.

bizarre as always of course.

oh well, these weird sessions, which seem to be so therapeutic to her, only last for a little while. i plink away on my computer while she fulfills some sort of happiness in transmitting.

thanks for the welcome. i have exercised on my machine a few times since i bought it (it's nice enough though when i do it) and i've been on my bike a couple of times. so it would seem it's a little too spontaneous. i want to be one of those people that is so addicted to exercising that i just *can't* live without it. hope i get there.

wow! that is really cool. i could do something like that sitting right here in the office. i'm going to give that a try NOW.

okay, the diet part though...i'm going to have to do something about this as well. i have been stuffing my face a lot lately. i wish i was a really picky eater. i love it all! why does it have to taste so good?

if i start dieting i'm going to something more like the south beach diet. i have the book but the recipes seem to be so expensive and some of that stuff is hard to find. so, i will have to basically pick from the "okay" list to eat and cook from.

bravo! on your success!

1. what form of exercise (i.e. yoga, exercise machine, swimming, etc.) do you practice?

I either use exercise tapes or walk.

2. how many days a week do you exercise?

3-4 when I get a routine going

3. how long do you exercise?

30 - 60 min. depending on what I am doing

4. what time of the day do you exercise?

Morning - so it is the first thing done.

Karen,

There were times I wanted to get that old spirit I had in the past, doing aerobics for hours and hours. But life has changed and I've got so many things to care for - that I couldn't find the strength I had before.

My new way began at the clinic, when I came to my old dietician (she knew me when was 20y)- I was ashame to get out of the house and had back problems. I just got back to work after labor and didn't have clothes to fit in.

I knew it was a start - and have to tell you - that my health care didn;t pay all of the meetings because I ---- lost only 2pnd a month. (or not at all) (couldn't stop those night snacks)

So, I thought about all these stories about the kids being ashamed of their mom, and as if it was a coincidence - my son (then - 5.5) told me I was lazy ("why do you come to pick me with your car, while we can do some walking?") and my butt got bigger. Well, "at least I've got nice hair", I told him... (I realy do!)

So - here is my idea: start little. Gain a little, lose a little. And when you feel like a nice night meal, eat the same food (I eat diet ice-cream since I'm a carb "fan"' drink black coffee and take a shower. Sometimes it helps)

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi Karen:
I'm just getting into a routine, but here's what I do:

Yoga: All Day Yoga for Beginner's DVD, the A.M. Yoga part every morning (about 18 minutes).
