Is anyone out there goaling herself to a particular body fat %? If so, what is your goal?

Yeah, actually. Since weight lifting makes you weigh more than you'd probably "goal" for, I am going for between 16-19%. Good question!!!

I'm shooting for 20-22%. When I started working out in march, I was almost 25%.

The Zone by Dr. Barry Sears gives a camparison of body fat percentages at p 263, Appendix F:

Reference Group - Females - percentage body fat

Average anorexic patient - 10

gymnasts - 14

racquetball players - 15

aerobic dance instructors - 17

cross country skiers - 18

swimmers - 19

tennis players, alpine skiers - 20

track and field, basketball, volleyball players - 21

ideal female - 22

average american female - 32

You know I always have a problem with working this out-- some sites ask for your waist measurements and some don't. Whenever I put in my waist # my BMI is always up more...makes sense as this is where *most* of the fat is!!

Ideally I'm just looking to lose the inches (especially around the middle). I'm also working at toning and strengthening my body as a whole, but with regards to a body fat %

According to the Tanita scale I'm 1/2 fat so what the heck...I'll shoot for any number under that. HAHA! I've lost weight and inches and have only gone down 2%

I am going for 22%!!But this time, I am being measured by a professional trainer at my gym, rather than trusting those stupid scales.

Wow, that calculator gave me a much better rating than my scale at home! I'm not sure how it can figure that...I suppose it's approximate.
