1. What kind of mood are you in right now?

I'm in a good mood. It's lunch time. I'm going to eat outside at the park on this beautiful summer day

2. Are you a morning person?

I am NOT a morning person AT ALL!!

3. Do certain foods *alter* your mood?

Yes! I have noticed that binging on sweets or breads has a negative effect on my moods. Caffeine is something I tend to stay away from, so when I do consume it, even in small amounts, I get a little manic.

4. Are you more likely or less likely to workout when in a bad mood?

I used to get in a bad mood and tend not to workout. That's one of the reasons I was never successul in my exercise goals. However, since March when I started getting into a regular work out routine, I am more likely to work out when I'm in a bad mood. I used to try to work out to get in shape. However, this time around, one of the main reasons I started working out regularly was to deal with stress and negative emotions that had me in bad moods frequently. Sometimes it's the only thing I can do to help myself feel better.

5. Do you feel that exercise helps your mood?

It definitely helps me feel better.

1. I'm stressed out right now because of work, but in a fairly good mood all things considered. It's just crazy around here right now, and going to get worse before it gets better. I may see a reprieve around the middle of Sept!

2. I am a morning person. No doubt about it. Which is good since Sam is waking up at 6:30 these days. Of course, DH is a night person, so that's tough.

3. I'm not sure if foods alter my mood or not. I feel best when I eat sushi and always have.

4. In a bad mood, I'll probably go to the gym but then be really pissed off if I don't like the class or if it's crowded or anything like that so I'll bail. Then I'll be angry wiuth myself for not going. It's a vicious cycle. It's hard to be a Gemini!

5. Yes, I think exercise helps my mood, if only because I feel better that I got off my big a**!

1. What kind of mood are you in right now?

I'm with Kerstin. State of denial about having to work after my 4-day weekend. Although, she got off vacation. Heck, I'm still in denial from MY vacation. lol. Overall, so-so mood. Not looking forward to the hard work I'm going to have to do to lose this weight in my 15 weeks. Augh!

2. Are you a morning person?

Nope, not at all, and that's why I waited until the afternoon to post to the mood post. Otherwise, I would've wrote, "grouchy", "bleah", "go away". hehehe.

3. Do certain foods *alter* your mood?

Not sure. But I think some might.

4. Are you more likely or less likely to workout when in a bad mood?

Less likely. Any excuse will work for me NOT to work out. Do you see why I have a hard time working out? lol. I hate it and I'm lazy! Any excuse will work.

5. Do you feel that exercise helps your mood?

No. not really. I've worked out when I'm stressed or in a bad mood, it just makes me tired and stressed or tired and in a bad mood. hehehe. So stay away.

too funny. i'm excited to start, and yet, dreading it. I need to get a positive attitude about this. maybe i will try that hypnosis bit and just say, give me a positive attitude about working out. =)

To those of you who've answered so far....

DEBBIE- hope that your lunch in the park was enjoyable!
Bingeing is not a good thing...I wonder why when the desire strikes us we think it will help, when we know all it does is affect us negatively? Humm.....
I totally agree with you about working out to get rid of frustration. It's great to get all this angst out of you with a good heart pumping!

KERSTIN- yep vacation time may be over, but the weekend is almost here!
I too am like you in the morning, though coming here is not as bad as actually facing someone face to face, lol! It's good to live with people who are just like you!
Good point about what the stem of

1. What kind of mood are you in right now?
I'm in a good mood right now, had an ok evening of washing the car, not so great eating though. I guess my overall mood today has been good, which I think has something to do with the good nights sleep I got last night, finally!

2. Are you a morning person?
Not really, I enjoy having some time (perhaps about an hour) to myself w/out having to talk to anyone. God knows what I'd be like with a significant other! I did have a room-mate for about 3 years, and luckily our schedules were different enough where we didn't have to *deal* with each other. He was pretty much in the same mood as me first thing in the morning.

3. Do certain foods *alter* your mood?
I find that a large quantity of pasta can really alter my mood, but it's weird, sometimes it just makes me content, other times it makes me sleepy and other times it can just make me moody...perhaps it has something to do with my cycle or something!

4. Are you more likely or less likely to workout when in a bad mood?
Probably less likely- but I think like Kerstin said it depends on why the bad mood has evolved!

5. Do you feel that exercise helps your mood?
YES! I know that in my head I feel a whole lot better when I've done something with my day, whether it's some crunches (and I need to get back to doing these- the ball is getting dusty!!) or a 2 mile walk- I feel happy!

1.. What kind of mood are you in right now?

Today was a horrible day mood wise.

2. Are you a morning person?

Definitely

3. Do certain foods *alter* your mood?

I would say carbs w/ protein, are the most helpful for my moods. I tried low carb dieting, and my mind would not have it, too irritable, depressed and tired, so, yes, certain foods do alter my mood. Sugar, candy, milk chocolate bars, have the worse effects.

4. Are you more likely or less likely to workout when in a bad mood?

When I am in a bad mood, I literally have to force myself on the treadmill, and the first five minutes are just agonizing and brutal. But after 10 minutes, my blood gets pumping, and after thirty, I am cured. Weightlifting does not have the same mood altering affect as an intense cardio session.

5. Do you feel that exercise helps your mood? Definitely. But I still can not understand why I still have to drag myself to do it.

Sediqua & Heather...

SEDIQUA- sorry that you weren't in the greatest of moods, hope today is better for you!
Forcing yourself to workout is a great trait to have-- if only we could all have it! And isn't it great when it not only pays off with health and weight, but with your mood too?

HEATHER- enjoy that cup of coffee, I'm cheersing you with mine ;-) and get ready for a GREAT day!
Well said about the moods that affect whether you workout or not- angry yes, depressed no. I agree!!
