I was reading in my favorite fitness magazine, FitnessRX for women, how grapefruit should be a staple added to anyone's diet, since grapefruit has been proven to burn 3 pounds over a 3 month period, without dieting or exercise changes. They suggested either eating 1/2 grapefruit with each meal, OR drinking 6 ounces of juice, with each meal. Additionally, grapefruit stunts your appetite. Also, the dietary calcium, (if it is enhanced) is about 40%, which is also good for fat burning and appetite suppression. I've tried this, and found it to be an easy addition to my diet.
I know I now drink cranberry water,(an awesome Dieturetic (unsweetened) in addition to just drinking water, and sometimes, I drink hot lemon, which is another dietary staple.
I am anxious to hear everyone's elses little dietary fat flushing/burning ingredients that they have found to be helpful through their dietary journey.
I am slowly trying to add these things into my cooking, recipes, and daily habits. Hey, every bit helps.

No wonder they had a grapefruit diet.

Yoplait is a good one!!
Hey sediqua!
I think Ocean Spray puts it out but don't quote me on it but its 100% grapefruit juice no sugar added and its so yummy, and I thought it wouldn't be as good.
What does Ocean Spray make? And where do you get that cran-water stuff?
And I agree on the resistance bands. So much easier to have around than a whole bunch of weights.

Regarding your questions about how I got results, it seems as though, the older I get, the MORE I need to put in to get the results.
After I had my first child, after he was born, I had 40 pounds to lose. It came off pretty easily. All I did was the stairmaster for 20 minutes a day, no weights, and I had my bod back.
Then, I went through a horrible divorce and a job change to finance the horrible divorce, where i was working a million hours, and drinking a bit too much wine. I think I packed on the same 40 pounds in three months, but then, the second time around, the 20 minutes a day of cardio just did not do it.
I got serious results doing 45 minutes of cardio, and then lifting weights twice a week. Here is what worked for me.
1. Cardio/Weight training blends. I have this "treadmill" video tape, where they sprint on treadmills, and then in between sprints, there are multiple reps of free weights. I did this 4 times a week. The tape was about 50 minutes long. I got really good results with this!! After that to easy, I tried.
2. Denise Austin's Daily workout. Every morning my husband tapes "Denise Austins Daily Workout" These are awesome. Everyday, for thirty minutes, she focuses on something different, but there is always the aerobic componenet, in addition to either weights, conditioning exercises, or pilates. Every day is different. With each workout, she claims you burn 400 calories, ( even though the sessions are only 30 minutes) Weight training WITH cardio is the most time efficient way to literally tone, tighten. I am very happy with the results.
So if there was any one piece of advice I would give to anyone that wanted to firm up, quickly, I would find a way to exercise cardio w/ weights, 45 minutes a day, at least 4 days a week.
3. My traininer said in order to get faster and better results, he said to do cardio everyday, or at least 5 days a week for 45 minutes to an hour. I have not been able to do this.
I hope this helps!
