That's so cool. Okay, so you're not a runner. Me neither. We can do this somewhat together. I have a print out of the type of running your doing. On, oh what is that site, they have a running schedule called "couch to 5k" lol. That's what I need.
But it's the same concept. Run/walk. But towards the end, sheesh, it's like 20 mins running, 3 mins walking. 20 mins running. 3 mins walking. and I'm DYING!! lol.
No worries, my goal for my first 5k was under 40 and NOT walking...either one will do. I did both, so I was REALLY happy. Even if I WAS the last runner in. Who cares. I am not made for running, pure and simple. lol
But, this year, my goal will be no walking, and finish under 35. My bf said "I'll be happy finishing around 25". I wanted to smack him. Cuz for him, that means no excersizing, just going there and running. he just does NOT get it that I am not built for running. lol.
BTW, doing 5k's for me is weird. It's like 3.2 miles. How do I even mark off 3.2 miles? lol. I wish we would've either been brought up on metric, or they'd just change it over. I hate having to convert all the time. =)
How many more weeks of your clinic do you have? You said you're running in late August right?

Cher, I'm with you on not being built for running!!!
Just wanted to say that I admire you both-- maybe when the weather cools down here a bit I can join you too! Before the heat really hit I was beginning to get into the whole running thing (well more like jogging) and doing it in the local park (one mile in and back out of it). I was doing 2 miles and jogging between the speed bumps. Though I'm with you both on not being built for running it was something I was beginning to enjoy.
In the meantime I'm cheering you both on :-)

My run isn't until October. BTW, when I ran, this is how my miles went.
Mile 1: 8 mins
Mile 2: 12 mins
Mile 3: 15 mins.
of course then add that extra 0.2 miles in for the last few mins of the race.
Talk about NOT being able to pace. And trust me, it's even harder when everyone takes off. Look at my miles. lol. SO sad. hehehe.
Oh and btw. When I run. I have my headphone and I DO LISTEN to the Rocky soundtrack music. ALL of it. lol That and Linkin Park. They get me going. lol. I didn't listen to it when I ran the 5k, but I'd train with it. I think I will use my headphones next time. IT'll make the time go by faster.
the website is www.coolrunning.com and this is the couch-to-5k that I need to do. lol. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

Hey IG!!!
Did you guys have Ren and Stimpy? A vulgar cartoon? lol. Anyhow, LONG time ago, when they'd be on, they fell into this black hole, and before they were leaving, Stimpy (the dumb cat) found "all the missing left socks in the world". lol.
I thought about that since you talked about your headphones.
BTW, I miss Canada. lol. Maybe I'll see if I can get back up there (at least Vancouver) sometime next year. My bf will love the cold, and me, I'll be freezing my butt off. lol.
Oh yeah don't concentrate on distance. I only know distanace because I had to start looking at it when the 5k got closer. Otherwise, I dno't care. I go for time. My goal will
Tomorrow would work perfectly!!!
Um, you gotta remember, I'm born and raised in Southern California, I AM A WUSS!!!! lol Therefore, Vancouver in June was kinda nippy for me. But still enjoyable. Forget shorts though. Man that Arctic breeze sure can freeze ya. lol.
Yeah, I'd like to ENJOY my vacation, not freeze to death.
I had a flashback to the movie Mr. Deeds. lol.

Well, okay, I'll let you off the hook.
