For those of you who are members at a gym, do you think $399 a year is high or is it comparable with other gym prices? That also includes all the classes such as aerobics, body sculpting, kickboxing etc. I mentioned it to my DH that I had gone by and what the price was and expected him to say that was way too high. But, he said if it was something I really wanted to do then go for it. They do let you try it for a week and see if you like. I think I will do that. I have never joined a gym before.

Also, is two months too short of a time to see any changes? My DH and I are going on vacation in two months and was hoping to be able to get somewhat toned up before we go.

Thanks!!

You know Kristen I think it's actually quite reasonable. If you break it down it's less than $35 a month. The gyms around here (USVI) are all about 70-80 a month! And some of them have joining fees too! Yikes....hence I'm not a gym member!

The fact that classes are included it a great perk too!

I would suggest you 'try' it out, see if you're comfortable and if you like it. Then really figure out whether you will get your money's worth by joining. I know if I joined a gym I'd feel guilty about spending the money if I wasn't going! But I just can't afford what they all want at the moment!

Thanks guys for your replies!! I guess I just thought gyms would be a little cheaper than that. I called this morning and I am going over there after work. They do have an enrollment fee ($49 I think) which I don't understand what that is for, but I will see if maybe they would drop it. I have heard that some places will do that. Also if I pay it in full they add three months free. I will see how this week goes and if I like it I will stick with it. My DH and I are talking about maybe TTC #2 after vacation and I asked the lady about that. She said that for medical reasons they will extend the contract for the amount of time missed. So, I thought that would also help me get back into shape after the baby (if we decide to). I think if I can get in shape and learn the correct way of strength training that after the year is up I can maintain at home.

My DH and I are going to Maui for two weeks. ALONE!!!!! (I can't wait, although I will miss DS terribly) We have been saving for this trip for a while. So, need to get in shape so I can be comfortable in a bathing suit and we will be doing a lot of diving. I need to be able to carry all the equipment from the car to the water when we do shore dives.

Now, if I can just cut out all my bad snacking habits. Sweets, chips, soft drinks. :) I am trying, but it is so hard to fight a craving when you have a convienent store 20 steps away from your back door at work. But, I know where I can come when I need help. :)

I think the price is definitely reasonable.
