You know how they say, you should change your work out every, lets say, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 30 days? or your body will become adjusted, and will not burn calories as effectively? Easy solution, you just change your exercise.

But what about diet? Does anyone have any ideas, about how long it takes for your body to adjust to diet, before the weight loss stalls? Like if you are cutting calories, I do beleive in less calories in, and more out, equal weightloss, but this is only true upto a certain point, then your body starts slowing down. My friends says she over eats once a week, just to stop that from happening. What do you guys do?

Interesting question Sediqua!

In my opinion so long as whatever you are doing is producing results then you must be on the right track. This is something that I have applied to exercising. I haven't given the thought of this to food. I think your comment on your body becoming adjusted is true. For exercise at least.

As for the food aspect- it's been said that depriving yourself of certain foods can lead to failure, as the urge becomes so deep that you overdo it. Your friend's idea of overeating is interesting. For many of us I can see that setting us up for failure. I have known people who will allow themselves one treat a week- let's say on a Friday, and that's what they stick to. I've also known people who allow themselves one treat a day. I think it's all a matter of what works for you- where you can draw your own line!

For me, I do find that if I have a certain desire, let's say for chocolate- depending on how strong the feeling is I will allow myself to have it. But I don't have any sure fire way of doing this (ie. doing it only on a certain day of the week). I do it when the need arises (hoping it doesn't happen too much, lol).

I don't know how long it would take the body to accustom itself to a certain way of eating for it to no longer be beneficial...if at all! But again I think this may be a very individual thing.

I seem to have just rambled...it's early ;-)

I've heard the same thing you have in terms of "splurging" to keep your body on track.
