Does this happen to you?

Ok, during spring time when I was active here and lost a few pounds I was eating healthy and exercising. I was doing real good but to be honest there was always a craving for something that send me prowling through the kitchen. I think it was the need for sugar. I would crave my morning sandwich ( which was PB sandwich with honey ) so badly. And even through the day I would be looking for something and never really knew what. Do you have the same feeling? What do you do about it? It always seems like something is missing.

Any ideas?

Just a thought here Martina-- maybe when you start your day off on such a sweet note the taste continues through the day?? (I'll keep you posted on how my day goes, as I had French toast this morning!)

Maybe allowing yourself a 'sweet treat' later in the day might help.

Just a thought. When I crave something, I eat it. Because if I don't, then I am fighting a craving and more likely to eat twice as much than if I would have just eaten the thing I was craving. I find myself trying to eat something healthy in place of the not healthy item. For instance, I want ice cream with hot fudge. If I eat half a cup of ice cream with two tablespoons of hot fudge i'm fine. If I don't then i will end up having a banana, peach, string cheese, lots of cheese, etc. And I'm sure the calories and fat of the healthy items outweigh that in the ice cream when all is said and done.

Martina, I have an Aunt who tries every diet under the sun.

yeah, i still get that occasionally.

as for me, i think it's only a habit. and habits can be broken.

sooo, the first thing i do when this happens, is pour myself a big glass of water or homemade herbal tea (sweetened with *gulp* splenda). and then i leave the kitchen and go do something that'll keep me busy awhile.

if, after awhile, i wander back, i'll allow myself an orange and either a kiddie serving container of lo-fat fruit yogurt or lo-fat cottage cheese.

that usually takes care of that.

but overall, since i switched to eating 6 times a day, i've pretty much not had many of those moments anymore. :)
