I am so frustrated with my weight. I feel like getting liposuction or something. I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried the LA Weight Loss program, is it like WW??? It claims to only be $7 bucks a week…I am at my wits end, I have to go weigh in with my doctor next week and I haven’t lost a thing, it’s so frustrating, now that I know I have PCOS its even worse feeling that I struggle and struggle. UGGH!

I don't know about them at all- HOWEVER I do remember seeing a board called the LA Weight Loss board on iVillage. I'm searching for it now to see if it's what you're

Hi there... I know very little about LA Weight Loss, but I do know that the cost is more than what is advertised on TV. A very close friend of mine just started working as a counselor at LA Weight Loss and went through intense sales training in order to be able to 'convince' people to purchase the necessary supplements, soy bars, etc that are an integral part of this plan. She gets her supplements & counseling for half price and has lost almost 20 lbs since she started about 2 months ago, so it must work.

Hope this helps!

Something I know about. I used to post to the LA Weight Watchers board but it was not very active.

Here is the jist of the plan:

It is based on calorie control. Depending on how much you weigh depends on how much food you get to eat. There are several color levels – Red Plus, Red, Purple, Green & gold. I know on the red plan you get 3 starches (slice of lite bread), 3 fruits, 4 veggies, 2.5 proteins, a dairy serving and a fat serving. Chicken & turkey are the preferred proteins while beef is limited to 3 or 4 times a week I think.

You get weighed in 3 times a week. This is to help you stay on track & control any binges.

It is $7 a week but you pay for all your weeks up front. If you need 5, 20 or 100 it is paid up front. You are also strongly urged to purchase the protein bars, “LA Lite” you eat 2 times a day. Depending on where you live that can be around $1000 for a year.

The plan works the only thing I did not like is that the consulers work on commission & have a quota so push the products. But a firm no usually puts an end to that.

The food choices may be listed on the LA board.

Thanks for all your honest opinions.

I don't have a problem journaling and the rigidness of the plan would work wonders for me, that's why WW worked so well when I did it back in the early 90's but I can't do WW's points, it is too lenient and I make wrong choices.

However, I cannot afford to do things up front. If it's $7 bucks a week that's one thing, but to cough up all the money in advance that's just too much money...and 3 x's a week? the closest LA center near me is 35-40 mins away. 3 x's a week is a lot if it's not in your same time.

That's too bad that they can't be more lenient about payments. I went over to the LA Weight Loss boards and one woman said she paid 1700 bucks, I'm sorry, I do not have 1700 dollars to cough up, if I did, I would do it because my health is important.

Oh well, i was hoping that it might help. I just started reading The Hamptons Diet so we'll see how that goes and I go see my doctor on monday so I will tell her how frustrated I am with the lack of weight loss.

some of the posters on the board said they were able to pay in installments. You may want to ask the center. I ususlly weigh in 2 times a week and just tell them my free time is not when they are open. For the most part they are fine. I know a year of weigh in is less than $400 in NYC.

Good luck with what ever you choose
