How do you prepare it and how does it compare to beef (leaner?)?

How does it compare to beef? I'm not sure. I mean, tofu is soybeans. Beef is, well, meat. lol. Tofu is a great source of protein though.

As for preparation, I'm Japanese, so I have a few ideas, lol. J/k. I dno't even cook.

Here's a webpage about tofu....http://www.tofu.com/

okay. My mom cooks it (stir fry) with like beef and some sort of sauce. She'll cook it with many different foods, just chop it up into cubes and add to the pan (she usually stir fries it).

Or, the way *I* love to eat it......buy it firm, and cut it into cubes and eat with soy sauce (as in, dip the tofu into the soy sauce). My folks add ginger, but I don't like ginger.

There are recipeson that website I listed above. I love tofu. lol. I'm so glad it's good for me.

All right, I told you, dumb question...LOL! I really did know it was soy. I just wanted to know if it was better for you than beef, or if it was just a great protein source for vegetarians and what with no real advantage other than that.

I have had it, and I wasn't thrilled with it...LOL!

I know it is much healthier than most meats, but I'm not a fan.

Not a dumb question at all, but I feel dumb in having no answers.

I had it one time at a chinese rest. My mom has recently become vegetarian and ordered it. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't yummy. These days it seems like soy everything so I thought about tofu. i just don't know what to do with it.....guess I should skip it, huh?

Sylvie.......?????j Got any ideas on how to make it scrumptious?

And soft, firm, now I am really confused. (LOL mind slipped in the gutter...I AM referring to tofu here....;-)

You guys crack me up. Yes, if it's cooked with food, it does take on the taste of the food, so then it's just a matter of texture. Me, I love it raw, better than cooked, so I cant' really help you out if you think it's not so great to begin with. lol. Kinda like eating raw fish. I love it, but many ppl I know can't stand the texture, versus the flavor.

If you do wanna try it, I'd say find a recipe of a stir fry with meat (beef) or something. If you need help, I can try to help you, but I need to know what types of food you like or dont' like.

As for being better than beef. I have no clue to be honest. I think mostly because one is meat and one is soy. Unless of course, you are a vegetarian, then tofu is good for you. lol. Overall, I think tofu can be more healthy than beef, only cuz it's soy and it's got tons of protein and good stuff for your body, but meat, I'm sure, is good in it's own way.

I guess, for me, it's like saying, what's better, chicken or broccolli. Kinda hard to compare apples and orange.

Oh boy. me and my food analogies.

lol. I say, if you can't stand eating it, don't eat it. lol. I love tofu, but I drown it in soy sauce and let it soak up the soy sauce. I don't think that's good considering the salt content. But that's teh way I love to eat it. =)
